ESI provides direct support to Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. (LBR) in its support of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and its mission to accelerate the prevention and treatment of cancer. LBR's support of NCI includes the management and execution of IT projects sponsored by the NCI Center of Biomedical Informatics and Information Technology (CBIIT). One of the more critical projects is the building a National Cancer Data Ecosystem for sharing and analysis to "e_nable all participants across the cancer research and care continuum to contribute, access, combine and analyze diverse data that will enable new discoveries and lead to lowering the burden of cancer_."A' The National Cancer Data Ecosystem includes:* Enhanced cloud-computing platforms.* Services that link disparate information, including clinical, image, and molecular data.* Standards and tools so that data are interoperable.* Essential underlying data science infrastructure, methods, and portals for the Cancer Data Ecosystem.* Sustainable data governance to ensure long-term health of the Ecosystem.Key Roles/Responsibilities* Assist with data manipulation and formatting to fit NCI data models* Translate and document key components of data submissions that make for streamlined ETL processes* Track, manage, and analyze data submissions* Accelerate the data ingestion process by assisting in automating data curation processes* Monitor ongoing data quality and analysis results* Co-develop requirements for tools to support data ingest, ETL and dashboarding* Perform basic quality control of data including tests for data integrity after ETL* Collaborate with other developers and test engineers to produce high-quality software that delivers business value and follows established standards and processes* Create and manage technical documentation* Independently develop, code, modify, test and debug application programs* Work with business users to develop and implement acceptance tests to ensure that product meets customer requirements* Implement recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards* Actively engage in process improvement initiativesBasic Qualifications* Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in Computer Science or related field* At least 5 years of experience in the above role/responsibilities* Strong knowledge and experience using Python* Experience with SQL, relational and noSQL databases such as Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Neo4j.* Experience with Git, Docker and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins* Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including experience working directly with customers to discuss their requirements and objectives* Ability to prioritize, status and multitask* Exceptional interpersonal skills with strong ability to coordinate and collaborate tasks and activities within a team environment* Ability to work in a busy and complex setting, including working with all levels of staff within the government and familiarity with the nuances of government practices and processesEqual Opportunity Employer (EOE)Job Type: Full-timePay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per yearBenefits:* 401(k)* 401(k) matching* AD&D insurance* Dental insurance* Dependent health insurance coverage* Disability insurance* Flexible spending account* Health insurance* Life insurance* Paid holidays* Paid sick time* Paid time off* Professional development assistance* Retirement plan* Tuition reimbursement* Vision insuranceCompensation package:* Yearly payExperience level:* 5 yearsSchedule:* 8 hour shift* Day shift* Monday to FridayAbility to commute/relocate:* Rockville, MD 20850: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)Education:* Bachelor's (Required)Experience:* SQL: 5 years (Preferred)* Python: 5 years (Required)* Data analysis skills: 5 years (Required)* R: 2 years (Preferred)Work Location: Hybrid remote in Rockville, MD 20850
