As an RF Engineer working on Fire Control Radar and Radome tests stations within the CACI's Aerospace Solutions Group, you will serve as a member of a group of aviation test developers who's multi-disciplinary engineering tasks include hardware design (electrical and mechanical), software development for automated testing, product integration and troubleshooting, as well as technical documentation. You will be tasked by the engineering leads to complete development efforts of automated test within RF chambers for our USAF customers.

What You'll Get to Do:
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot existing systems for fault detections and inaccurate design choices, this includes running automated tests and utilizing diagnostic tools and instrumentation.
  • Review of automated test software for accuracy from hardware standpoint, not required to review for "execution or user interfaces" but for verification of instrument setup, sequencing of tests, and recorded test data for accuracy.
  • Suggest paths forward from findings to include hardware identification, schematic redlines, and high-level architecture changes to move product forward to delivery/fielding.
  • Interface with customers and leadership regarding developmental efforts, findings, and approach.
  • Review Performance Work Statements or technical approaches for contracting (including Engineering Change Proposals).


More About the Role:

Design, develop, implement and maintain wireless communication products and technologies by applying RF and mixed signal capabilities. Prepare plans, process specifications and procedures. Compile and evaluate test data, prepare technical analysis, recommend methods and processes required to meet design objectives on new or improved products and/or processes. Provide support in technical matters relating to Engineering Change Notices, rework, or other difficulties and specifications. Conduct analyses or tests pertaining to the development of new methods, materials, processes or standards and provides recommendations accordingly.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent engineering degree.
  • Ten or more years of professional experience.
  • Development of systems to customer and technical requirements and verification of requirements.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics.
  • Full understanding of PNA-X instrumentation (particularly Keysight products).
  • Full understanding of RF components including: mixers, amplifiers, gain horn antennas, radar systems, phased arrays, couplers, oscillators, etc.
  • Full understanding of power conversions from time to frequency domains.
  • Integration of hardware and software and understanding of real-world systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise with Field Fox and spectrum analyzers.
  • Design and development in a risk averse environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot existing systems for root-cause identification.
  • Ability to interface with customers and leadership to communicate status and technical approaches to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to review scripted programming languages and derive functional understanding.


These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
  • Software: ANSI-C or other scripting language.
  • Product development experience through production.
  • Support equipment development in accordance with (IAW) MIL-PRF-28800, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461.
  • Familiarity with government FAR and D-FAR.
  • Product life cycle management IAW IEEE 15288.
  • Development of automated test systems (ATE) and test program sets (TPS) for aircraft electrical, mechanical, avionics and engine systems.
  • Knowledge and use of ISO 9001, AS9100 or CMMI quality process standards.
