As a Network Engineer, you will be part of a team that provides a range of computer systems support to our NASA customer including network design, network operation, and project management. You will also collaborate extensively with NASA and external partners to establish test networks used in verification of spacecraft systems in the Artemis and Gateway programs.

This position requires a self-motivated, capable person with strong verbal and written communication skills. In addition to outstanding technical expertise, the individual must be very people savvy, possess strong customer relationship skills, have a positive team-player attitude, and be flexible and willing to take on new assignments and responsibilities as they arise. Finally, the most qualified candidate will be an articulate speaker able to communicate complex technical ideas in a convincing manner, must share our passion for our Nation's Space Program, and share in the excitement of developing the next human-rated space vehicles.

More About the Role:

Job responsibilities include:

  • Represent lab and system owners in configuration control board meetings concerning networking.
  • Orchestrate testing between network segments across Wide Area Networks to validate system performance metrics and ultimately ensure successful testing of spacecraft systems.
  • Support the IP networking of live, integrated, distributed testing of spacecraft systems over a wide geographic area.
  • Ensure consistent performance of Wide Area Networks through ongoing monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Support the full lifecycle of network infrastructure including procurement, network appliance configuration, security configuration, and inventory tracking.
  • Work with robotic, space vehicle, and simulation development teams to design networks systems that meet NASA security standards and project requirements. Use modern configuration management tools and techniques to implement system designs.
  • Generate, review, and update cyber security documents such as security plans, interconnection agreements, disaster recovery plans, risk assessments, continuous monitoring reports, waivers, and incident reports.
  • Respond to customer requests for changes, fixes, and other user support.
  • This work takes place at NASA/JSC in Houston, TX, a highly stimulating and dynamic environment that is critical in human space flight and the space exploration initiative.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident for access to US Government facilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines required.
  • Minimum of 10 years network administration experience. Greater and diverse experience is valued.
  • Must have strong customer relationship management experience and communication skills as will interface with NASA management.
