Job Description:

CACI is looking for Database Administrators to support our customer, U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), at Scott AFB, Illinois. This position is contingent upon award of the USTRANSCOM Command, Control, Communication & Cyber Systems Managed Information Technology Services (MITS), Enterprise support Managed services.

What You'll Get to Do:

CACI has an excellent opportunity for an experienced, self-directed, Database Administrator. This position is in support of a Department of Defense (DoD) organization, USTRANSCOM Directorate TCJ6 located at Scott AFB, IL.

The Database Administrator will serves as a database specialist responsible for activities associated with delivery of customer-defined systems and software projects. They will operate, maintain, configure, provision, and optimize databases, ensure optimal performance of the database. Work with development, security and operations teams concerning future application and environment technologies, upgrades and testing.

The Database Administrator is responsible for knowledge and proficiency with an enterprise database technology (Relational, SQL database, In-Memory databases, NoSQL databases and new emerging databases). They are responsible for establishing and maintaining security and integrity controls. They work to improve existing policies, procedures and standards relating to database management, and propose and implements enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.

The Database Administrator works with other teams to identify and refine customer database requirements, develop solutions, and implement new/updated technology to support the end user. They balance performance (indexes, views, snapshots) and storage (normalization, de-normalization). They maintain and execute security, back-up, and disaster recovery as defined by the customer.

More About the Role:

The Database Administrator responsibilities also include, but are not limited to:
  • Establish database parameters that maximize database performance.
  • Install, configure, and patch database management systems (DBMS).
  • Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata).
  • Control access permissions and privileges.
  • Ensure storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly.
  • Conduct capacity planning and ensure the availability of related application technology (e.g. web services, applications, batch processors, job schedulers, etc).
  • Communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security.
  • Provide Tier II/Tier III support for the application technology stack.
  • Migrates new software code and break fixes.
  • Verifies shell/SQL scripts, packages, and stored procedures for system enhancements.
  • Installs and configures third party products that integrates with underlying applications.


You'll Bring These Qualifications:
  • Currently hold an adjudicated Top Secret Clearance and be able to maintain
  • BA/BS and 4 + years recent specialized experience
  • Database Administrations certification (SQL, Azure, Oracle, etc.)
  • CompTIA Security+ (IAT Level II or greater)


These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
  • ITIL v3 - Foundation
  • Experience with Cloud services
  • Experience supporting various IT infrastructure, to include operating systems, storage, & web services.
  • Adaptable to changing circumstances and operational needs
  • Understanding of Department of Defense Military standards
  • Experience with DoD IT security requirements
