CACI is looking for a VDI System Engineer to support our customer, U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), at Scott AFB Illinois. This position is contingent upon award of the USTRANSCOM Command, Control, Communication & Cyber Systems Managed Information Technology Services (MITS), Enterprise support Managed services.

What You'll Get to Do:

The successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly and succinctly both written and orally, and present products and ideas in a business-like manner. The candidate will be required to work in dynamic fast paced environments that require team interaction and coordination of efforts. The candidate must be experienced in interfacing with both client managers and system users.

The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for developing, maintaining, upgrading, patching, and securing Microsoft Windows desktop environments in multiple Virtual Desktop Infrastructure environments. Our environment is provided by Citrix, so expertise operating and maintaining.

Citrix infrastructure (PVS, DDC, StoreFront servers, etc.) is mandatory. Strong experience maintaining Microsoft Windows systems within DoD environments is also a firm requirement. Experience managing a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure environment and/or preparing master Operating System images for deployment is expected. Candidate must possess developed communication skills in order to effectively work with colleagues to drive innovation and communicate capabilities to fellow team members, colleagues, management, and customer leadership. The ability to provide technical team leadership (as a Subject Matter Expert - SME) required. The ability to manage and supervise the team is strongly desired.

More About the Role:

Secondary responsibilities will include developing, maintaining, and updating Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops environments as required. Experience with VDI deployments, specifically Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, is desirable. Candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing technical standards (SOP, TTP, implementation instructions, other required documentation) and monitoring processes for information systems. Candidate will collaborate and liaise with other teams within the organization as well as VDI team members to identify, track, and report on opportunities for system optimization, methods to drive efficiency, identify and reduce error rates, and empirically document customer experience.

The successful candidate will:
  • Demonstrate a strong background in managing Citrix solutions
  • Follow technical guidance from fellow team members, leadership, and customers about maintaining, operating, and evolving Citrix environments and be able to independently action that guidance
  • Maintain high service availability by liaising with many stakeholders to identify risk and threats to the delivery of VDI services
  • Rapidly identify and correct faults impacting service delivery
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams for coordination and trouble shooting.
  • Bring experience or be able to effectively manage team members with regard to personnel guidance, setting team and personnel goals, and managing time cards.
  • Manages experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independence in assignments, Leads, directs and reviews the work of a team who exercise latitude and independence in their assignments.
  • Typically, has hiring, firing, promotion and reward authority or ability to recommend and influence decisions within own area, in accordance with manager review and approval.
  • Manages a team with a focus on policy, implementation of strategic initiatives and execution of day to day deliverables. Establishes or works to achieve, team objectives, operational plans with measurable contribution towards the achievement of results of the job function or completion of a project.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
  • A certification IAW DoD 8570.1 Technical Level II
  • US Citizenship and Active Secret Clearance
  • Currently hold an adjudicated Secret Clearance and be able to maintain
  • BA/BS + 5 years recent specialized or AA/AS + 9 years recent specialized or a major cert + 9 years recent specialized or 13 years of recent specialized experience
  • Strong background / experience with Microsoft Windows desktop Operating Systems
  • Experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
  • Knowledge of DoD IA/Cybersecurity and IT regulations and guidance
  • Demonstrated background troubleshooting complex IT issues
  • Citrix Certified Associate certification (CCA-V) - Required. Citrix Certified Professional-Virtualization (CCP-V) preferred.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
  • Automation using Microsoft PowerShell, VBScript, or batch files
  • Adaptable to changing circumstances and operational needs
  • Understanding of Department of Defense Military standards
  • Documentation experience using Microsoft Visio or similar products.
  • ITIL v3 Foundation Certification
  • Experience in the evaluation and integration of new technologies into existing environments
  • Experience with VmWare ESXi administration
  • Experience with managing and developing Group Policies
  • Experience working with and supporting Cisco Routers and Switches
