CACI is looking for Journeyman Systems Administrators to support our customer, U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), at Scott AFB Illinois. This position is contingent upon award of the USTRANSCOM Command, Control, Communication & Cyber Systems Managed Information Technology Services (MITS), Enterprise support Managed services.

What You'll Get to Do:

CACI has an excellent opportunity for an experienced, self-directed, Journeyman Systems Administrator to support the Command's current and planned FAA data feed systems. This position is in support of a Department of Defense (DoD) organization, USTRANSCOM Directorate TCJ6 located at Scott AFB, IL.

The Journeyman Systems Administrator supports the daily activities of configuration and operation of business systems, with particular emphasis on systems providing FAA data feeds. They provide the operations and maintenance support for 16 RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) FAA-dedicated workstations across Scott AFB that reside on the isolated FAA Private Network and run the FAA's Traffic Flow Management System (TFMS). The TFMS application provides the current feed to USTRANSCOM. The contractor shall act as the liaison, escort, and provide hands-on- hardware support for FAA technicians during when the FAA refreshes TFMS hardware. The contractor shall identify, evaluate, document, install, and configure unclassified hardware and software to meet user needs and shall ensure all services are available as required. The contractor shall establish detailed fault management, configuration control, and performance monitoring to support USTRANSCOM users.

The Journeyman Systems Administrator manages, operates, and maintains the Traffic Flow Management Data to Government (TFMDG) data feed. They ensure seamless integration with GCCS software to capture, filter, bundle, and securely transfer data to DISA DECC Columbus and DECC Montgomery via a DISA Cross- Domain Enterprise Solution (CDES) for consumption by United States Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM). The SA shall work with technicians from DISA and USSTRATCOM to support troubleshooting, problem isolation, corrective actions, and problem analysis concerning the FAA data feed to include but not be limited to issues with the enterprise cross-domain solution. They must activate, backup, deactivate, and restart each application's resources and services, determine problem isolation and correction, perform certification and re-certification actions, and provide advice on operational impacts of network expansions, additions, upgrades, and reconfigurations in hardware and software suites within ten (10) business days of the Government's request.

They analyze system faults, troubleshoot, and run diagnostic tests on operating systems and hardware to detect problems. Evaluates and installs developed software during various phases of testing. Reviews and prepares documentation for systems,testsand installation of software. Investigates and recommends methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Initiates preventive maintenance on the operating systems as well as repair to system/environment problems. Administers systems/environment solutions for multiple projects with varying schedules. Interfaces with vendors for trouble calls. Supports the planning of system/environment requirements for individual projects. May provide work direction and guidance to others

More About the Role:

The Journeyman Systems Administrator troubleshoots and resolves system problems or issues to increase system reliability and enhance overall system performance. They work with the other support teams to resolve reported Incidents and support Problem Management activities to identify the root cause of customer problems. They document all findings in the Command's ITSM system and updated Knowledge Base articles with detailed information.

Specifically, the windows System Administrator (SA) will be responsible for supporting systems and applications on a geographically dispersed Enterprisenetwork with multiple types of servers and server applications. The SA will be primarily responsible for Linux system administrator functions and should be capable of contributing to Windows system administrator functions supporting a global Active Directory infrastructure in a mixed Windows environment. The SA will provide Tier 2-level knowledge and support to the customer and their components to include Tier2/3infrastructure troubleshooting and support that involves the configuration and administration of servers in their area of operation.

Additionally, the SA will provide remote support and/or travel to customer servers and sites as required. The ideal candidate will have experiencemaintaining and supporting network devices consisting of primarily Cisco routers and switches. Using this knowledge, the system administrator will be successful in providing necessary administration and maintenance support of this system

Candidates need excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills, as well as extensive experience with desktop hardware, software applications, operating systems, and network connectivity. They must be customer service-oriented and proactive in anticipating and resolving problems while maximizing efficient use of resources. The candidate will be required to work in dynamic fast paced environments that require team interaction and coordination of efforts. The candidate must be experienced in interfacing with both client managers and system users.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
  • Currently hold an adjudicated Top Secret Clearance and be able to maintain.
  • Professional certification that meets or exceeds DoD 8570.01. IAT II (Security+ CE or equivalent)
  • Applicable Operating System Certification (LFCS, RHCE, MCSA, MCSE, Azure, MS365)
  • Bachelor degree in a relevant field of study
  • Minimum of four (4) years total experience in Information Technology.
  • Working knowledge in all aspects of automation, telecommunications, and IT networks
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and customer service skills


Desired Qualifications:
  • ITIL v3 - Foundation Certification
  • Automation using Bash, SH, Microsoft PowerShell, VBScript, or batch files.
  • Adaptable to changing circumstances and operational needs.
  • Understanding of Department of Defense Military standards
  • Experience working with and supporting Cisco Routers and Switches
  • Experience with DoD IT security requirements
