What You'll Get to Do:

The Asset Recovery Unit, falls under the United States Attorney's Office Civil Division, it is a combined unit of forfeiture and financial litigation. This contract position is specifically assigned to support the Financial Litigation Program (FLP).

More About the Role:

FLP's focus is to collect civil debts owed to the government (i.e. Dept of Education, Small Business Administration, Health and Human Services Loans) and criminal monetary penalties that are imposed in a defendant's Judgment (i.e. Restitution, Fines, and Assessments). In support of these efforts the employee will be utilizing public records, legal, and financial investigative databases, and complete financial reviews to determine a debtors ability repay the debt owed and locate assets, as well as support a team of 5 Assistant United States Attorneys to draft legal documents and correspondence to enforce collection of the debts owed.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
  • Three years of experience on major litigation support projects or undergraduate degree.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a team environment.
  • Must have excellent writing skills and oral communication capabilities.
  • Requires hands-on familiarity with the Government's office and network environment, including but not limited to, data processing environments, including office automation networks, PC-based databases and other applications, internet and server-based databases and other applications, such as Oracle, Relativity or other document review platform, Trial Director, etc.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

Should be a knowledgeable user of the Government's office and network environment, including but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheet, imaging, and hardware systems. Familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources preferred.
