CACI is looking for a Optical Investigator to join our NSIS (National Security & Innovative Solutions) division, supporting our photonics team-- we are expanding! Our laser communications technology is helping NASA provide high-definition video from the International Space Station, and to explore asteroids 250 million miles away. Our other optical technology can also help scientists discover biohazards; support intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions; and protect soldiers from explosive devices. Do you have a passion for innovation? Apply now and join the team!

Candidates must live within a 60 miles radius of Florham Park, NJ or be willing to relocate. Employees are expected to work in-person. However, we can make accommodations for some remote work on an as-needed basis.

What You'll Get to Do:

  • Develop innovative optical solutions related to optical communications, optical remote sensing, photonic integrated circuits, lasers, optical amplifiers, and optical transmitters and receivers
  • Develop and employ software for the modeling and simulation of rare earth doped material systems, optical propagation, and optical nonlinearities.
  • Serve as primary US Government customer support, understand customer technical problems, formulate creative solutions, and contribute to selling of proposed solutions and lead technical execution of resulting programs.
  • Collaborate with customers to reach mutually-accepted set of specifications for complex projects, and flow those requirements down to subsystems in a Systems Engineering effort.

  • Participate in strategic planning sessions and assist in executing the implementation of strategic plan by working with managers and engineers.
  • Develop marketing and product material for showcasing tools and applications including brochures, presentations, multimedia material and equipment demonstrations.
  • Recommend and initiate process improvements and overall development practices.
  • Develop trade studies to compare different potential designs and select the optimum approach.
  • May lead a team of professionals

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Prior knowledge related to fiber lasers and amplifiers (e.g. ultra-fast, high-average-power, and/or rare-earth-doped optical sources and amplifiers, including work on the effect of optical nonlinearities)
  • Experience working in an inter-disciplinary team environment
  • Experience in the field of Optical Research
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent presentation and writing skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft software applications and other software applications as required
