CACI is looking to hire a Systems Engineer to support the government team spearheading research & development (R&D) for sensor systems on the US Navy's newest autonomous marine vessels/unmanned surface vehicles (USV). Analyze high-level technical requirements for USVs and advise R&D efforts on sensor electromechanical and software systems to ensure adherence to requirements. Develop Measures of Performance (MOP) for USV sensor systems, including navigation, and perception systems.

Ideal candidate is a Lead Systems Engineer with a NAVSEA/Navy background, who has practical experience in Systems Engineering and extracting Navy requirements (TLR, CDD, CONOPs). Best if knowledge/experience is in an unmanned/autonomous system, but also acceptable if it's in a manned marine vessel/ship.

More About the Role:
  • Extract lower-level technical requirements for sensor systems and subsystems from Top Level Requirements (TLR) documents outlining USV capabilities.
  • Outline electromechanical and software requirements for Navigation and Perception systems in easily digestible formats for engineers and project managers.
  • Guide and consult on the design and implementation planning of sensor systems in adherence with requirements.
  • Create clear and relevant measures of performance against which to assess progress towards threshold and target requirements.
  • Communicate performance metrics and indicators to R&D teams and project managers.

Anticipated start date: Jan 2023. Remote authorized - with flexibility for in-person meetings on occasion (Norfolk, VA area or Washington, DC area).

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of related work experience.
  • Practical experience applying systems engineering skills and analyses.
  • Strong drive to learn and understand new and complex electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experience with Navy Top Level Requirements (TLR), Capability Development Documents (CDD), or other DoD technical requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree in systems, electrical or mechanical engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance (DoD Secret).

These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have:
  • Experience with unmanned/autonomous systems.
  • Experience with sensor and situational awareness systems.
  • Experience with naval/maritime systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
