What You'll Get to Do:

CACI is seeking an innovative, solution-oriented Lead Drupal Developer and Technical Architect to support the re-design of a government, external-facing website and related digital properties as well as ongoing operations and maintenance. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the design, development and operations of mission-critical, public website as part of an experienced Drupal team supporting the federal government. This candidate will serve as the primary liaison with the government customer product team to convert business requirements into modern technical solutions. The candidate must be proficient in full-stack Drupal development (e.g., templating, theming, custom module development, etc.) with experience in Drupal 8 and 9 and can operate with a DevOps mindset that supports collaboration, communication, and transparency.

More About the Role:

  • Lead architecture design and technical implementation of multiple websites, applications and tools across testing and production environments.
  • Support daily operations for the existing government website including feature enhancements, code security reviews and updates, bug fixes, testing and remediation, troubleshooting and resolving ad hoc requests, and other related activities required for successful ongoing operation.
  • Identify and recommend potential improvements to the website(s) and development processes to ensure the agency's information sharing mission, representation of resources and services, overall mission efficiency, and effective support of stakeholder's needs continues to improve.
  • Lead and contribute to the redesign and consolidation of disparate web properties into a single domain including the technical architecture design, strategy, and implementation.
  • Engage with client product managers to discuss requirements, demo functionality, support release planning and deployment, and provide technical guidance as needed.
  • Effectively communicate to the customer and team product management LOE, timelines, risks, and proposed solutions.
  • Define, allocate and oversee development tasks and work output across a team of developers and testers.
  • Generate custom and scalable code, providing solutions from research phase through implementation, testing, remediation, and deployment.
  • Ensure relevant design, coding, and security standards, policies, and mandates are maintained.
  • Train and mentor junior developers.
  • Support ongoing improvement to the QA process leveraging automation and other best practices to ensure high quality and user-friendly digital experiences.
  • Ensure websites are compliant with DHS mandates, policies, and guidelines such as adhering to Section 508 Accessibility laws, IT regulations, complying with standard operating procedures and program processes as determined by leadership, etc.
  • Provide timely support including on-call response to critical requests or emergencies.


You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • 10 Years Applicable Experience or Equivalency (equivalency includes MA + 7 years applicable experience, BA + 10 years applicable experience or AA + 12 years applicable experience).
  • Successful DHS EOD adjudication.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with the customer and the team.
  • Subject matter expert in full-stack Drupal development (e.g. site building, front-end, back-end, and custom module development), with the ability to learn new software and technologies as necessary.
  • Experience with Drupal 8, and 9.
  • Proficient with PHP and related back-end software development.
  • Proficient with MySQL database architecture and maintenance.
  • Proficient with CSS, HTML, JavaScript, (VueJS or similar), SASS, Twig, JQuery Bootstrap, and related front-end development.
  • Proficient with Git, Jira, Bitbucket and other software development project tools.
  • Working knowledge of LAMP stack.
  • Team mentality - jumping in to help others as needed, empowering and collaborating with others, and learning a cross-section of skills to improve ability to aid others.
  • Flexibility - adapting to change on the fly, maintaining a positive attitude, and focusing on the path ahead.
  • Ability to accommodate occasional emergency support and evening deployments.
  • Experience working in Agile development environment.


These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have:

  • In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity risks and mitigations particularly as they pertain to websites and web-based systems and applications
  • Expert Drupal integration with leading search tools including Google Site Search
  • Acquia Platform & Site Studio
  • Knowledge of Section 508 compliance and web accessibility guidelines
  • Acquia certifications
