What You'll Get to Do:

As the Administrative Support Specialist you will provide senior level clerical and administrative support for senior executives in the Department of Defense Research and Engineering (DDRE (R&T)). You will use your knowledge and experience in management, international relations, international security, foreign affairs with the ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels of DoD and foreign governments. You will also provide administrative support for meetings, correspondence, and gathering background information to support senior officials' attendance at international meetings.

More About the Role:

As the Administrative Support Specialist, you will provide a range of administrative duties which include:
  • Maintaining the calendars of office personnel and coordinate the daily activities and travel schedules; and accountability of files and correspondence in the office, both in electronic and in paper form;
  • Serving as the interface with the public whenever there are inquiries concerning the office, including the greeting of high-level officials;
  • Processing incoming mail, including e-mail and facsimile;
  • Coordinating schedules with the travel coordinator to ensure Official Government Travel is prepared as needed;
  • Providing backup support for duties for coordinating travel and for Special Compartmental Information Facility (SCIF) Management and Correspondence Control;
  • Monitoring the correspondence and task management system database (e.g., Correspondence and Task Management System (CATMS)) to ensure all taskers are handled appropriately and in a timely manner; and
  • Perform other appropriate duties as assigned in an office environment.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
  • Experience: Five (5) years' recent and relevant work experience. Knowledge of DoD organization(s) and structure. Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to coordinate across large groups of people at multiple levels. Experience working with senior officials;
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required. Degree requirement waived in lieu of significant recent and relevant work experience: minimum of five (5) years' active-duty military experience working for Senior Executives or minimum of ten (10) years' experience working for a civilian/industry Senior Executives;
  • Knowledge and experience in management, international relations, international security, foreign affairs with the ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels of DoD and foreign governments; and
  • Clearance: active DoD Top Secret security clearance and ability to obtain and maintain SCI. Contractors with a DCID 6/4 eligibility within the last five (5) years are highly preferred.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Master's degree in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or other relevant field;and/or
  • Demonstrated progressive responsibility in project management positions supporting the DoD science and technology enterprise.
