These bridge-care model free clinics, located in Manassas, Springfield, and Culmore, provide health care, school physicals, screenings, and mental health services for vulnerable populations located in low-income and medically underserved areas (MUA). The ambulatory clinics provide to the community referrals, resources, and case management for medical home placement; wellness and integrated care workshops; and group care for chronic disease management and education.About the Position:This position will support the Mason and Partners (MAP) Clinics which provides health care services to the uninsured community within Prince William and Fairfax counties in Northern Virginia, and the Population Health Center (PHC) on the Fairfax campus which offers integrated primary and behavioral care to the community while providing experiential learning and workforce training opportunities for students. The incumbent will be assisting faculty from the School of Nursing in providing healthcare services at the Mason and Partners (MAP) Clinic and Population Health Center. Employee will be onsite, telehealth, and offsite to explore clinic operations, review methods of clinic development, and perform different logistics tasks, including translations for patients (English/Spanish) and conducting medical and general intakes. The incumbent must be able to perform a complete range of basic clinical and clerical services in a healthcare setting under the direction of a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, or physician. The incumbent needs to either have a Phlebotomist certification, or be willing to obtain certification after being hired. Additionally, all laboratory forms need to be 100% accurate. Ability to work with culturally diverse populations and on interdisciplinary teams in an efficient and effective manner.Responsibilities:Assists Clinic Lead with clinic set-up and take-down, where applicable; Maintains medical and non-medical supply inventory at respective clinic site and reports supply needs to Clinic Lead and Operations Manager;Coordinates and performs on-site phlebotomy, laboratory, and point-of-care testing;Facilitates learning opportunities for onsite clinical students, when applicable;Assess patients for fever, cough, and/or rash;Assists Community Health Workers with medical and general patient intake and maintains patient flow;Collaborates with clinical students with patient operations and care coordination;Assesses and monitors patients' understanding of information conveyed;Maintains the examination areas; andReceives and screens telephone calls.Required Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent;Some direct care experience (typically 1+ year) required and working familiarity of clinical procedures in a hospital or medical setting;Some advanced training in office procedures and knowledge of medical terminology;Use of standard office/medical equipment (i.e., personal computer, data terminal, online printer, calculator, telephone, facsimile, copier, blood pressure cuff, laboratory equipment, and point of care testing equipment), and the preparation, comparison, or checking of reports, records, and related data;Proficiency in entering new patient data, lab results, vital signs, and appointments in electronic medical record; andAbility to work with culturally diverse populations and on interdisciplinary teams in an efficient and effective manner.Preferred Qualifications:Bilingual; Spanish preferred;Completion of an Accredited Medical Assistant program;Experience with assisting clinic team members with patient interpretation as needed; andAbility to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and other external parties in a courteous and friendly manner.
