AARP's Integrated Communications and Marketing (ICM) Group includes Membership, Content and Editorial, Customer Experience, External Relations, Brand Strategy and Strategic Communications. Across paid, earned, shared and owned channels, ICM manages AARP's reputation, drives engagement and member growth, and showcases AARP's mission and value through one, integrated voice.

The Marketing Manager acquires new members and reacquires expired members through Direct Mail and drive to web efforts. Strategizes, designs and executes tests to improve response. Evaluates performance trends, test results and identifies new opportunities to improve performance. Partners closely within the team and with key business partners to ensure coordination and smooth execution of tests and campaigns. Tracks and assesses campaign results and adjusts marketing strategies and plans to meet changing markets and competitive conditions. Collaborates with management to identify opportunities to streamline marketing processes and to develop new procedures that support the business unit/department.

Responsibilities

  • Supports internal and/or external teams and clients by creating proposals, presentations, and other materials using product/program information, data, and media insights. Assists with planning, creation, and execution of various strategic marketing communications.
  • Consults and collaborates with cross-functional teams, colleagues, and leadership to ensure the effective and timely execution and management of assigned programs or campaigns.
  • Monitors the competitive landscape and market trends to identify new opportunities for the organization to shape products, programs, and/or services most relevant to the target audience.
  • Provides guidance on marketing best practices and campaign strategies to colleagues and/or external partners, as necessary. Advises campaign stakeholders about next steps, opportunities, and risks based on best practices and lessons learned.
  • Monitors, reviews, and measures campaign performance, proactively communicating and elevating lessons learned to key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates a deep understanding of the target audience(s), their unique wants, needs, and perceptions, and how they engage with the organization in order to execute strategies that deliver most relevant offerings and communications to consumers in the channel of their choice

Qualifications

  • Completion of Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years' experience in marketing and communications required.
  • Direct mail or direct response experience required.
  • Experience with drive to web promotion and email marketing.
  • Experience supporting marketing efforts across print and digital channels.
  • Proven analytical skills - can evaluate performance and recommend program shifts in order to meet and exceed marketing program objectives.
  • Client service and matrix management experience desired.
  • Proven strategic thinking and analytical skills to drive successful marketing programs.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
