AARP's Integrated Communications and Marketing (ICM) Group includes Membership, Content and Editorial, Customer Experience, External Relations, Brand Strategy and Strategic Communications. Across paid, earned, shared and owned channels, ICM manages AARP's reputation, drives engagement and member growth, and showcases AARP's mission and value through one, integrated voice.

The Integrated Communications Strategy Director - AARP Affiliates coordinates and integrates the external communications for AARP's affiliates to drive relevance, showcase accomplishments and shape the AARP's image in the marketplace. The Integrated Communications Strategy Director - AARP Affiliates works closely with AARP's affiliates to develop a communications strategy, execution plans and relevant messaging. The director also oversees implementation of those plans and measures their impact.

Responsibilities

  • Develops multichannel communications plans for new and existing initiatives, programs and offerings to reach key target audiences, oversee implementation and measure results. Creates and updates messaging for all initiatives, programs and offerings and ensure enterprise-wide alignment.
  • Establishes annual communications priorities and the communications calendar for the enterprise. Identifies and mitigates brand risk.
  • Collaborate with content teams to develop written and visual content that will resonate with target audience and drive relevance for the organization.
  • Vets content with experts from across the enterprise to ensure accuracy and message alignment.
  • Collaborates with Brand to develop appropriate paid media material to promote messages and shape the marketplace. Collaborates with Social Media teams to amplify messages, promote programs and initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Bachelor's Degree (advanced degree preferred) in communications/public relations or a related discipline and 10+ years of professional experience in developing communications/public relations strategies for a variety of clients.
  • Budget management and matrix management experience.
  • Possess strong client service orientation, project management and account management skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent understanding of, and ability to work within, organizational politics, networks and a matrix management system.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills (e.g. collaboration, listening, negotiating, facilitating, managing conflict, flexibility, etc.).
  • Possess excellent writing and oral communication skills.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
