St. Mary’s College of Maryland at Historic St. Mary’s City is accepting résumés for the position of Procurement Officer/Director of Auxiliary Operations. The major responsibilities include the following: responsible for conducting the process of procurement for St. Mary’s College of Maryland (“The College”) and oversight of all auxiliary operations including Food Services, Laundry and the Campus Store. Areas of responsibility include the College’s purchasing department (procurement and contracting process) and the administration of the College’s participation in the State of Maryland’s Corporate Credit Card Program.
Requirements include: Bachelor’s degree in business related field with some accounting course work. Professional certification in procurement preferred; knowledge of public procurement philosophy, goals, and standard procedures. CPM a plus; knowledge of marketing principles and philosophy of providing excellent customer service; minimum of three years’ experience supervising procurement operations in a complex organization are required; purchasing and marketing experience working in a non-profit organization, college or university setting is preferred; and expertise in contractual matters and procurement law. All applicants for this position must have excellent verbal, written, and analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively with all levels of employees, students, state and federal officials, and the public. Applicants must have the ability and desire to provide excellent customer service. Proficiency in the use of various computer software applications is required. Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered. Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check and proof of COVID-19 vaccination, medical and religious exemptions will be considered.
