Fairfax County, a diverse, dynamic, and growing jurisdiction in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, is seeking a heavy-duty maintenance experienced professional to serve as the Fairfax Connector’s Assistant Fleet Coordinator. This position is primarily responsible for oversight and administration of the Fairfax Connector fleet planning and maintenance management program, including the implementation of new technologies and zero-emission propulsion systems. Candidate will be working closely with Fairfax Connector’s contracted service provider, and various Fairfax County and external agencies.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provides technical oversight of Fairfax Connector fleet maintenance
  • Coordinates creation and implementation of best practices in maintaining policies, processes, and procedures to improve performance
  • Manages revenue and non-revenue maintenance data, fleet rosters, inventories, registrations, replacement schedules and databases
  • Reviews, monitors, and analyzes maintenance performance data
  • Conducts periodic inspections/verifications of the county contract service providers’ fleet maintenance program; documents field reviews and other observations using established standards
  • Coordinates maintenance program activities, including fleet maintenance campaigns, fleet maintenance software applications management, and other research as required
  • Coordinates development and implementation of fleet Quality Assurance program
  • Supports administrative activities, including developing budgets, generating performance reports, gathering resources requirements, and performing other analyses as assigned
  • Conducts quality control inspections of vehicles at production plants and county facilities
  • Coordinates, arranges, and attends meetings, workshops, or events, both in-person and virtual, including occasional evenings and/or weekends.

Note: This position has been identified as an Emergency Service Personnel which will be required to report to work during inclement weather or other emergencies.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, urban, regional or transportation planning, or a closely related field; plus two years of professional experience in civil engineering, urban, regional or transportation planning, or a closely related field.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid driver's license.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and a driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of experience in fleet heavy-duty maintenance
  • Knowledge and experience with maintenance performance measures
  • Knowledge in vehicle maintenance management system, and/or similar systems
  • Knowledge in contract administration
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills, including ability to coordinate multiple projects, prioritize, and meet established deadlines
  • Knowledge and experience in Quality Control/ Assurance program

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Ability to input, access, and retrieve information from a computer. Ability to do the field observing, walking, standing, bending. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
