Job Announcement

Assists with operations and oversight of 10,000 square foot facility, budget management, equipment maintenance; maintains rapport with members and provide exemplary customer service to employees. Develops and continually enhances standard operating procedures and policies and recommend enhancements to improve operational process; maintains records of updated policies, procedures, incidents, and programs. Trains new staff members; develops training guides and manuals. Collaborates with Fitness Director to develop and implement fitness programs, group exercise classes, workshops, and special events for gym members, employees, and retirees.

Illustrative Duties

General Duties
Assists in the administration of the facility operations such as conducting inventory, preparing administrative and financial reports, and assisting in the preparation of the annual operating budget;
Assists in the ordering and receiving of supplies;
Assists with the recruitment, hiring, training, supervision, scheduling, and evaluation of staff and volunteers;
Adheres to revenue and expense limits;
Ensures staff compliance with operating procedures and safety/security standards;
Informs the public of pertinent rules and regulations;
Directs residents to private and public resources and programs;
Assists in the development and implementation of community outreach plans to target
underserved populations and to increase overall program participation;
Delivers customer service by distributing literature and providing information;
Assists as a liaison between County agencies and residents.

Assists with providing operational support by supervising the maintenance of assigned facilities.

Assists with providing Parks/Recreation programming support by developing and coordinating several specialized programs and special events;
Maintains records necessary to the operation and evaluation of programs.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of the principles and practices of recreation center and/or park management;
Knowledge of fiscal record keeping and inventory procedures;
Ability to use a personal computer, applicable software, and peripheral equipment;
Ability to direct and coordinate the work of subordinate staff and volunteers;
Ability to prepare a variety of administrative reports;
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff, citizen groups, and the public;
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Employment Standards

Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:
Graduation from high school or a GED issued by a state department of education, plus two years of related experience in a recreation center, recreational park, or golf course operation; or two years of experience organizing and coordinating public recreation activities or community affairs, as applicable to the position.

  • CPR required within 3 months of hire
  • AED required within 3 months of hire
  • First Aid required within 3 months of hire

  • Associates degree or higher in Kinesiology, Fitness Management, Health Promotions, Physical Education, Exercise Science or related field.
  • Two years of experience in fitness/recreation center operations.
  • Experience in event planning, coordination, or implementation.
  • Experience in communication material creation (i.e., flyers, posters, email advertisements, e-boards, etc.).
  • Experience in fitness equipment maintenance and/or repair.
  • Experience in personal training or group fitness class instruction.
  • Certification from a nationally-recognized organization in group fitness, personal training, health coaching, or fitness-related specialty.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. Job is generally sedentary with occasional on-site visits to other county locations for hosting programs. Visual acuity is required to read data on computer monitors. Employee may be required to lift up to 60 pounds. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
