Job Announcement
Performs a wide variety of complex legal and technical processes. Serves as a member of the Civil Case Processing team and is responsible for a variety of duties in processing a civil or domestic law case from initiation to completion. These tasks may include but are not limited to processing income deduction orders, concealed weapon permits, adoptions, exhibits, expungements, final decrees, domestic & civil law orders, and show cause orders. Works u nder the supervision of the Civil Case Processing Assistant Manager in the Civil Case Processing branch.
Note: Physical presence in the office is required with this position.
Salary: The selected applicant's starting salary will be in the minimum to midpoint range ($41,253.89 to $55,004.14) of the advertised compensation range. Promotional rules apply for current Fairfax County Government and Fairfax County Public Schools employees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to high school graduation; Plus two years of experience providing administrative support, technical support, customer service, or working in a court or legal environment.

Requires ability to lift boxes, files and push a cart weighing up to 20 pounds. Ability to input and retrieve data from a computer. Must be able to type at least 30 words per minute due to high volume of legal documents. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
Panel interview and may include a practical exercise.

- Receives and reviews documents to ensure completeness for filing and recording;
- Prepares and processes legal documents;
- Enters and updates case information in the case management system;
- Scans and indexes documents in the case management system;
- Reconciles daily receipts, identifies discrepancies and makes corrections;
- Assists customers by phone, and in person with miscellaneous inquiries;
- Maintains, stores, and ensures accessibility of case files;
- Assists the public requesting to review, and/or obtain copies of case files;
- Ensures the confidentiality of court records in accordance with the Code of Virginia and the Rules of the Supreme Court.

- Ability to perform data entry, scanning, indexing and retrieval with computer information systems;
- Ability to communicate courteously and effectively, both verbally and in writing;

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two or more years of Court and/or legal experience.
- Two or more years of experience in providing front-line customer services.
- Knowledge of the Code of Virginia and regulations in relevant areas.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Clear and concise oral and written communication skills.
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Ability to exercise tact, discretion, initiative, creativity, and independentjudgment.
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Office computer software, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.
