Job Announcement
Provides support to the Sheriff’s Office deputies and civilians on a wide range of human resources activities including recruitment, payroll, benefits, diversity, employee relations/performance management, ADA, FMLA, and workers' compensation. Participates and supports the Chief of HR in strategic planning efforts and initiatives related to work force planning, succession planning, organizational development, and special program coordination. Analyzes human resources business processes and makes recommendations for improvement. Provides interpretation and guidance on county policies and procedures, as well as federal, state, and local laws to employees and management. Drafts policies and/or procedures to facilitate the implementation of HR policy at the agency level. Advises employees and management on employee relations and/or performance management issues. Develops and delivers training related to HR issues. Administers the agency's performance management program. Serves on a variety of teams and works on special projects as assigned. Works u nder the direction of the Chief of Human Resources and with minimal supervision.
Schedule- Standard Monday-Friday.

Employment Standards
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in human resource management, public administration, or a related field; plus, two years of professional-level human resources experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, polygraph exam, and psychological exam to the satisfaction of the employer.
All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. Proof of an exemption or vaccination status will be required during the pre-employment onboarding process. New employees who obtain an exemption from the vaccine mandate for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs may be subject to a weekly testing requirement. Vaccinated employees and employees with a medical or religious exemption will complete the attestation online on their first day of employment or shortly thereafter.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to work effectively under stress and meet deadlines in a timely manner. Ability to communicate clearly & concisely, both oral and written. Work requires the ability to operate keyboard driven equipment, to operate devices with tablet technologies, and to sit for long periods of time. All duties may be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.

- Provides managers with guidance on employment, employee relations and other HR issues;
- Makes recommendations and revisions to departmental HR policies & procedures;
- Gathers, tracks, and analyzes HR metrics, reports, and plans;
- Manages on-boarding, exit interviews, and other HR-related departmental programs;
- May supervise clerical and/or paraprofessional personnel in HR-related matters.

- At least two years of professional HR experience in recruitment and selection.

- Demonstrated experience interpreting and providing HR policy guidance to employees and managers.
