Job Summary

Responsible for leading the Aptive team in all aspects of SAMHSA Domain IV project work related to conceptualizing, planning, researching, developing, designing, implementing, disseminating and evaluating the effectiveness of mental health and/or substance abuse communications projects, related materials, and dissemination tactics of various size, scope, and content

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the mental health communication task orders within this IDIQ domain and provide oversight in our team's tasks conceptualizing, planning, researching, developing, designing, implementing, disseminating and evaluating the effectiveness of mental health and/or substance abuse communications projects, related materials, and dissemination tactics of various size, scope, and content.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Communications and 10 years experience in mental health related communications including work at the SAMHSA and or HHS leading communication projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in majority of the following areas required:
    • Experience employing the full array of cost-effective modern communications theories, practices, skills, and knowledge.
    • Experience developing a comprehensive plan for a communications, awareness, education, and/or knowledge transfer project, determining the best evidence-based methods to reach the target audience and effect change, and utilizing both conventional and innovative communications strategies and platforms
    • Experience developing and providing culturally competent content and products.
    • Experience conducting formative and evaluative research, conducting outcome and impact evaluation, dissemination, and implementation of research/evaluation findings.
    • Experience developing and implementing national campaigns, initiatives or outreach to increase awareness and engagement of mental health and substance abuse to a target audience using multiple collateral materials and media (i.e., toolkits, brochures, public service announcements, social media engagement, and web-based materials, etc.)
    • Experience disseminating appropriately packaged messages, including but not limited to a vast array of print, broadcast, digital, electronic, and other media. Methods of dissemination shall include but are not limited to websites, social media, mailings, and conferences.
    • Experience developing effective partnerships with professional and non-profit and civic organizations, and garnering support and collaboration from them, private industry, and other governmental agencies.
    • Experience developing and presenting educational briefings to the entertainment industry. Experience organizing recognition events for the entertainment industry for activities/campaigns.
    • Experience with production of live, satellite, and virtual conferences.
    • Experience developing and providing publications or products as web-based and/or print-based materials, including for audiences whose first language is other than English.
    • Experience with production, layout, copy editing, technical editing assistance, and adherence to SAMHSA and Government Publ


Desired Qualifications

  • Extensive SAMHSA and HHS program level knowledge to shape and guide the task orders.
