Financial Assistant (Hybrid Position) (Ability to come into office once a week)The George Mason University, Department of Physics and Astronomy, invites qualified candidates to apply for our Financial Assistant position. This is a hybrid position, with the opportunity to work remotely and be in the office once a week. The main responsibilities of this position include ensuring compliance with University, state, and federal laws and regulations, working collaboratively with faculty/staff, graduate and undergraduate students and working with the Grants and Finance Analyst to ensure funding for purchasing. Note: This position requires the incumbent to use administrative systems that cannot be accessed by current students. As a result, individuals currently enrolled in a Mason degree program are not eligible to be hired into this position.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in finance or business-related field; or equivalent combination of education and related experience;The ability to obtain and maintain access to university administrative systems such as Banner and MicroStrategy;Proficiency with Microsoft Office & Excel;Excellent oral and written communication skills;High level of initiative and ability to work productively with limited supervision;Strong attention to detail;Ability to respond and work effectively and efficiently in a multitasking environment with deadlines;Ability to maintain discretion with confidential materials;Ability to come into office once a week; andAbility to work 10-20 hours per week.Preferred Qualifications:Experience working in an academic unit within a higher-education system;Familiarity with George Mason University's procurement processes; andExperience using eVA procurement system.
