Financial Assistant (Hybrid Position) (Ability to come into office once a week)The George Mason University, Department of Physics and Astronomy, invites qualified candidates to apply for our Financial Assistant position. This is a hybrid position, with the opportunity to work remotely and be in the office once a week. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.Responsibilities:The incumbent will work with faculty, staff, course coordinators and with the Purchasing Department to order supplies, equipment, and manage inventory. The main responsibilities of this position include ensuring compliance with University, state, and federal laws and regulations, working collaboratively with faculty/staff, graduate and undergraduate students and working with the Grants and Finance Analyst to ensure funding for purchasing. Note: This position requires the incumbent to use administrative systems that cannot be accessed by current students. As a result, individuals currently enrolled in a Mason degree program are not eligible to be hired into this position.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in finance or business-related field; or equivalent combination of education and related experience;The ability to obtain and maintain access to university administrative systems such as Banner and MicroStrategy;Proficiency with Microsoft Office & Excel;Excellent oral and written communication skills;High level of initiative and ability to work productively with limited supervision;Strong attention to detail;Ability to respond and work effectively and efficiently in a multitasking environment with deadlines;Ability to maintain discretion with confidential materials;Ability to come into office once a week; andAbility to work 10-20 hours per week.Preferred Qualifications:Experience working in an academic unit within a higher-education system;Familiarity with George Mason University's procurement processes; andExperience using eVA procurement system.
