AARP's Community, State and National Affairs (CSN) Group includes Government Relations, Programs, Volunteer Engagement, Community Outreach and Advocacy at the federal, state and local levels. It delivers on AARP's social mission by educating and engaging people 50-plus and their families, strengthening communities, and championing issues that help give people financial and health security.

The Campaign Manager leads the development and implementation of campaign strategies for all national and multi-state campaigns and executes winning advocacy campaigns. Coordinates development of campaigns plans, gathers and disseminates political intelligence, and plans and builds out scenarios. Collaborates with cross-functional teams, as well as internal and external partners, to achieve the organization's legislative goals. Works with senior management to develop and implement advocacy strategies at the local, state, and federal levels.

Responsibilities

  • Formulates campaign goals, strategies, and plans.
  • Coordinates Campaign's point of view with Grassroots, Outreach, and field managers.
  • Integrates and aligns campaign plans with other business units.
  • Builds robust core teams to guide campaign execution and assure alignment.
  • Manages campaign resources and budgets to maximize impact.
  • Tracks individual state progress on multi-state campaign issues.
  • Revises and adjusts campaign plans as needed through course of advocacy efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years as a Campaign Manager.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Public Affairs and/or Grass Root Campaigns concepts, terms, and tactics.
  • Detailed, results-oriented, multi-tasker that is proactive, forward-thinking, and is a creative problem solver.
  • Must have matrix management experience.
  • Superb organizational and project/task management skills.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills, with exceptional client-facing and presentation skills.
  • Strong quantitative/analytical skills.
  • This is an open-space office environment and the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise is required.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
