NJVC is currently seeking aStorage Engineer - Junior to join our growing team.
The Storage Engineer - Junior is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the storage area network (SAN).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform all maintenance, configuration, and deployments to the SAN system.
- Provision storage and monitor capacity.
- Provide daily support of the storage environment and backups.
- Work on storage related tasks, like volume creation, LUN provisioning, and data migration.
- Backup and storage services are the activities associated with the provisioning, capacity management, and day-to-day operations of the installed storage and data environment (e.g., Direct Access Storage Devices (DASD), Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID), Storage Area Network (SAN), Network-Attached Storage (NAS), tape, and optical), and their corresponding support services. Expected actions by the Storage Engineer, include but are not limited to the following:
- Manage enterprise storage acquired by, or allocated to DOT CISO systems and services, including:
- Installation and configuration
- Patching account management
- Storage configuration maintenance
- Backups and recoveries
- Capacity planning and management
- Vendor engagement and support
- Problem/issue management and resolution
- Other duties as may be expected or common within the ITSS service delivery description, storage diagrams, and documentation
- Recommend standard storage and data management procedures.
- Document and maintain procedures that meet DOT regulations, policies, and contractor obligations.
- Monitor and control storage performance according to technical specifications, storage, and data management policies.
- Perform capacity assessment and capacity monitoring.
- Perform data and file backups and restores per established procedures and service levels.
- Manage file transfers and other data movement activities.
- Provide input processing for activities, like loading third party media (e.g., tape) and receipt and/or transmission of files.
- Acquire and manage consumables, like tape and disks, etc., in support of the backup requirements.
- Coordinate acquisition of additional materials as needed.
- Maintain a media library and storage management system.
- Perform backup audits and quality assurance audits quarterly.
- Adhere to backup and storage policies enforced by the customer.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)
- High school diploma or GED
- 3+ years of experience administrating storage area networks, specializing in EMC and NetApp systems
- Must have experience with storage cloud infrastructure and operating Enterprise backup systems
- Background check required with the ability to obtain a public trust
- The position requires a COVID vaccination or an approved accommodation/exemption for a disability/medical condition or religious belief

- Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting.
- Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals.
- Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others.
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications.
- Experience working in a home office setting as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues.
- Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone with good phone skills and a professional demeanor.
- Previous customer service experience strongly desired.
- Good problem-solving skills with the ability to visualize a problem or situation and think abstractly to solve it.
