Administrative SpecialistJimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution is seeking to hire a part-time Administrative Specialist to support fiscal, HR, and administrative operations. Reporting to Carter's Director of Finance & Human Resources, this position assists with fiscal and human resource operations to include processing travel reimbursements, accounts payable, and human resource transactions. This position also serves as the first-line receptionist for the Arlington office and may require occasional evening/weekends.George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.Responsibilities:Fiscal and HRProcess travel pre-authorization requests and reimbursements for non-employees and students; assist faculty/staff in processing travel/expense reimbursements;Initiate payments for Carter School including GMU Foundation vouchers, requisitions/purchase orders, consultants, and honoraria;Process finance and human resources transactions related to hiring, terminations, salary changes, and special payments;Set-up labor distributions for sponsored funding and prepare adjustments to labor distributions as necessary; andAssist in candidate coordination for Carter School positions and new hire onboarding.Reception and Office ManagementManage the Carter School front office by greeting and assisting visitors, monitoring and responding to the main Carter School email account, directing prospective and current students to appropriate resources, accepting and distributing mail and packages;Submit resource and service work orders including key, signage, and other facilities requests; andAssist with Carter School event planning and execution (catering, equipment/AV support, registration, room setup, etc.).Required Qualifications:A passion for working and connecting with diverse individuals and groups;Superior communication skills, both spoken and written;Excellent time management and problem-solving skills;Ability to respond to tasks with a sense of urgency and to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively;Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented and accuracy driven;Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, follow direction, and take initiative;Ability to perform duties with a high level of professionalism, flexibility, integrity, diplomacy, tact, and confidentiality when necessary;Proficiency in MS Office and willingness to learn new programs as needed; andAbility to work occasional evenings/weekends.Preferred Qualifications:Previous higher education experience; andFamiliarity with GMU systems such as ChromeRiver, Banner, Mason Onboard.Starting pay $18 per hour; 20-25 hours per week
