Events and Administrative AssistantJimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution is seeking to hire an Events and Administrative Assistant to assist the Events Manger in planning online and in-person events at our Arlington campus, to perform reception duties, and to provide administrative assistance to the Mason Square in Arlington office. This position is based at Mason Square in Arlington and will require some nights and weekend work. The schedule will vary week to week based on the event schedule.The Event and Administrative Assistant will assist the Events Manager with event management, including but not limited to: Event scheduling and planning, working closely with internal and external clients, event logistics and execution, and social media. In addition, the incumbent will serve as the first line receptionist for the Arlington office, and support student services and operations administrative functions.George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.Responsibilities:Events SupportAssist Events Manager for all events and activities scheduled both external (non-Mason) and internal (Carter and other Mason) groups at Mason Square in Arlington in support of the Carter School's goals and mission; andAssist Events Manager in answering inquiries, scheduling events, managing events calendar, managing registrations if needed, arranging catering and other logistics (such as additional equipment and/or AV support, hotels, shuttle service, etc.), providing advice and support to event leaders on strategies and procedures, event set up, providing support during events including with AV, event tear down, event assessment, tracking event participation and evaluation and producing reports as needed.Reception and Office ManagementManage main Carter School email account, directing prospective and current students to appropriate resources;Submit resource and service work orders; andOther related administrative support duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:A passion for connecting with and helping diverse individuals and groups;Superior communication skills, both spoken and written;Excellent time management and problem-solving skills;Ability to respond to tasks with a sense of urgency and to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively;Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented and accuracy driven;Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, follow direction, and take initiative;Ability to work effectively and respectfully with people of diverse backgrounds;Ability to perform duties with a high level of professionalism, flexibility, integrity, diplomacy, and tact;Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed; andProficiency in MS Office and willingness to learn new programs as needed.Starting pay $18 per hour; 20-25 hours per week
