As an Engineering Director, you will manage and lead multiple teams of engineers and own the technical direction of the product. The role will focus on Arc XP's Experience Platform and Products which allow customers to design, build, and deliver website experiences at a massive scale. You will be accountable tocritical tier 1 initiatives within the organization along with laser focus on innovation and operations. You will partner with product owners,software engineers,architects, and ArcXPclients to build a world-class,bleeding-edge set of services for Arc.

Responsibilities
  • Lead an organization of 5+ full stack product development teams comprised of software engineers that design, implement, instrument, test, deploy and support their own code.
  • Be responsible for the overall planning, execution, and success of complex technical projects
  • Partner with product organization to maintain healthy roadmaps.
  • Partner with the VP of Technology and Product to develop strategy & executive presentations.
  • Set organization goals for technology, operations and staffing.
  • Achieve goals by coaching team members daily and conducting performance reviews following the company process.
  • Implement a technical strategy that ensures future success of your products and teams.
  • Partner with sales, account management and professional services organizations to enable healthy and productive client relationships.
  • Partner with support teams to ensure excellent production support.
  • Partner with the recruiting team to attract and retain high-quality and diverse talent.
  • Contribute to financial planning and achieve budget objectives.
  • Maintain relationships with existing vendors and identify new partnership opportunities that will help the company to grow.
  • Achieve security and regulatory compliance objectives for your products and teams.
  • Implement a technical strategy that ensures future success of your products and teams.


Qualifications
  • A successful candidate should have:
  • BA/BS in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years of architecting & building products from pre-launch through maturity with a focus onSaaS or cloud based applications
  • 5 + years experience directly managing other engineering leaders & software engineers.
  • Experience working in a global business with employees and customers in multiple time zones.
  • Strong knowledge of DevOps and cloud infrastructure services (AWS preferred)
  • Hands-on skills in one or more object-oriented programming languages (Java/J2EE preferred)
  • Knowledge of Java, React, REST,Service Oriented Architecture,Databases,Kafka andDevOpstool chains is a plus
  • Experienced in building full-stack web-based, distributed, multi-tenant, and multi-tier applications using java and javascript with emphasis on costs, time and impact.
  • Experience setting goals for engineering teams, performing coaching for improvement and performing structured performance evaluations.Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience managing budgets or a cost center.

Benefits may vary based on the job, full-time or part-time schedule, location, and collectively bargained status

The Washington Post includes salary ranges for certain positions to comply with local pay transparency laws. The salary range for this position is:
$169,100.00 - $281,900.00

The actual salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements. This position may be eligible for a bonus or incentive program, and a member of the Talent Acquisition team will discuss bonus payment terms and conditions during the interview process.
