The General Superintendent and QA/QC shall support the onsite project manager in providing construction QA/QC responsible for assuring that the quality of the work meets or exceeds the project's contractual requirements.

Responsibilities

Work you'll do

As a General Superintendent and QA/QC within our Defense Acquisition University (DAU) team, you will:
  • Verify subcontractor quality requirements are specified to vendors and contractor documentation submittals.
  • Monitor methods and procedures employed to ensure conformance with contract policies and government regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, installation per specification, and proper materials are procured, verified, secured, and protected on site.
  • Interface with the client and other consultants to develop construction specifications and facility requirements.
  • Lead and facilitate the overall cross-functional project team regarding construction quality reviews, document verification, installation verification, fit and finish.
  • Monitor and apply performance management techniques.
  • Manage the flow of project information between the team and the client, through regular meetings and written communications.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve construction quality reviews, procedures, templates, and products.
  • Process improvement - Identify and act upon ways to improve internal systems and processes referring ides to the appropriate line manager.
  • Identify and ensure that the client and project leadership is aware of quality, safety, health, and environment issues.
  • Establish effective project governance, processes, and systems to be utilized to track and resolve construction quality and open items.
  • Assist in developing new business opportunities with existing and new clients.
  • Coordinate and establish work priorities and schedules.
  • Ensure the Contracting Officer Technical Representative's (COTR) satisfaction for contract compliance in the performance of the works and coordination with the end user.
  • Ensure quality assurance in all duties and all works performed.
  • Promote safety and security awareness for all site team members.
  • Ensure site offices, lay-down/storage areas, temporary works, and housekeeping, etc. are maintained in an organized manner and professional appearance.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • BS degree preferred (Construction Mgmt or Engineering)
  • 10+ years of successful experience in a similar capacity, on a similar/relevant project(s)
  • US citizenship required
  • Background check
  • The position requires a COVID vaccination or an approved accommodation/exemption for a disability/medical condition or religious belief

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Successful experience with historical renovation of federal facilities preferred
  • Strong technical and communication skills with excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to adapt to changing requirements
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate daily with the project team
  • Proficient in construction documentation and drawing literate with knowledge of all phases of construction, divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control
  • Strong knowledge and appreciation of USACE EM385 construction safety processes and ability to enforce the project safety plan
  • Experience in report writing and knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word required
