Degree Compliance SpecialistThe George Mason University Office of the Registrar invites applications for a Degree Audit Compliance Specialist. The position also requires performing automated and manual degree compliance reviews. The incumbent's main duties include, but are not limited to:Graduation:Perform degree audits using Ellucian Degree Works evaluation systems or any new degree audit system, and review scheduled graduation reports to determine if applicants have satisfied degree requirements;Post degrees;Develop and maintain an understanding of other areas that impact graduation eligibility, such as registration;Build and maintain relationships with faculty, staff, and administration to assist in resolving complex issues related to degree completion; andMaintain expertise on the requirements students must fulfill to graduate, as well as the university and college academic policies which affect those requirements.Degree Audits:Process complex academic records transactions that will have a special effect on the degree audit;Serve as a problem solver for degree audit problems as they occur; andProvide training on Ellucian Degree Works and any new degree audit software.General:Troubleshoot technical and academic questions regarding academic records in order to provide customer service regarding the student record process;Create diploma orders for new graduates, duplicate requests, missing or damaged diplomas, and retroactive graduates;Develop and maintain a highly detailed level of knowledge regarding all academic programs at the university;Work independently toward a common goal to meet deadlines;Provide high-quality customer service in all aspects of the position;Present complex ideas and policies in a way that is easy to understand;Answer general email inquiries from students and the campus community; andAs necessary, meet with students who visit the Registrar's Office. Understand that Degree Auditors cannot advise students and know when to make appropriate referrals.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;Customer service experience, especially with an assertive clientele;Excellent oral and written communication skills;Demonstrated ability to employ logic to solve problems;Demonstrated ability to process large volumes of work, while maintaining a high level of accuracy;Experience with degree evaluation and/or student information system software; andDetail-oriented.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with the Ellucian Banner student information system;Experience with academic programs and their requirements;Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with conflicting priorities;Experience utilizing degree evaluation software, particularly Degree Works, is strongly preferred; andWork or other experience that required logic in dealing with complexity.
