Job Summary:
Westat is seeking individuals to provide skilled clinical trial review and national coverage analysis (NCA) development for oncology clinical trials. Other tasks will include abstracting study data into an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) template for oncology clinical trials. This is a part-time position to work at least 20 hours per week.
Job Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the review of oncology clinical research protocols and other relevant study-related documents to determine which tests, procedures, and interventions associated with a clinical trial are billable and which are not billable to a third party payer.
• Apply applicable local/national coverage determinations following Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) policies and other established guidelines to provide justifications for insurance or sponsor funded payments.
• Develop Electronic Medical Record (EMR) templates for oncology clinical trials following internal processes.
• Provide peer-review of other team members work.
• Collaborate with representatives from the organizations developing the protocol on the development of the NCAs or EMRs.
• Use of analytical skills and attention to detail.
Basic Qualifications:
• A Bachelor's degree or an advanced degree in a healthcare, scientific, or related field required (M.D., Pharma D., BSN, or RN Preferred)
• 5 years' experience in clinical setting or in clinical research.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Electronic Medical Record systems is a plus.
• Familiarity with third party insurance policies for clinical trials.
• Medical or Nursing background.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel.
• Detail oriented with the ability to organize/prioritize time and work independently.
• Excellent communication skills.
