Adventist HealthCare and CCPLabs seek to hire an experienced Pathology Support Technician who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.

As a Pathology Support Technician you will:
Ensure patient safety when accepting specimens from internal hospital departments and external physician clients
• Collaborate and partner with professional and clinical staff solving specimen handling issues, including incorrectly submitted specimens with emphasis on minimizing risk to patients
• Meet high quality standards in regards to irretrievable nature of patient specimens
• Proficiently use and accession specimens using LIS system with high level of precision, i.e., Cerner, Copath, Word, Excel and other customized programs
• Monitor and document instrumentation quality assurance records and participate in improvement initiatives
• Comprehend instrumentation variances on daily basis, trouble shoot equipment and other quality issues when appropriate
• Troubleshoot any issues with specimens for resolution while demonstrating problem solving abilities
• Assist with compliance of all professional federal, state, and CAP requirements including all chemical waste management, safety and infection control policies

Qualifications include:
•High School Diploma or GED required
• 0- 1 years of experience; Laboratory experience a plus but not required; entry level position with on the job training
• Experience with business software applications including Microsoft applications and major Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) preferred

Work Schedule:

Part-Time, 20-25 hours per week at Shady Grove Medical Center in Rockville, MD.

The schedule needed is Monday - Friday; flexible to consider a shift of 12pm-5pm OR 1pm-6pm.
