Job Summary

Aptive is seeking a Technical Writer, Editor, Journeyman to provide support services to the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) Software Engineering Center (SEC). The services will include related activities in support of all complete lifecycle management, software maintenance, software engineering, software sustainment, software replication and distribution, software control, Information Technology (IT) technical support services, Post Deployment Software Support (PDSS), Post Production Software Support (PPSS), and Cybersecurity. These services advance SEC's mission of ensuring operational readiness by developing, providing, integrating, and maintaining Army Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR), Logistics, and Business Software.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Research, write, edit and coordinate a broad range of communications/outreach materials (e.g., articles, blogs, brochures, fact sheets, flyers, media pitches, mobile apps, outreach scripts, social media posts, videos, websites) under strict deadlines
  • Create and disseminate pitches, presentations, toolkits and other communication materials to establish partnerships and enhance partnership development
  • Plan and coordinate speaking opportunities and vendor meetings at key conferences and industry engagements
  • Gather, analyze and interpret information and data from various sources to use across content
  • Plan, generate and deliver client-ready materials for stakeholders, including leadership
  • Develop content in compliance with AP style and other guidelines
  • Review outreach material for stylistic and formatting consistency
  • Review and/or copyedit content developed by other members of the team


Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in a related field is highly desirable in General Studies
  • 3 years minimum experience as a Technical Writer/Editor or performing Technical Writer/Editor Writing technical specifications, reports, brochures, and/or manuals for internal documentation, customer reference or publications
  • Analyzes technical literature available, writes descriptive copy, and verifies documentation
  • Must be capable of reviewing customer drawings and data and translate customer language into standard procedures and product flow
  • Must be able to edit, write, and/or rewrite technical articles, publications, presentations, and other materials to communicate clearly and effectively on research findings, technical developments, and other information to a wide range of external audiences
  • Must be able to exercise quality control over documentation intended for external distribution
  • Secret security clearance
