Web Specialist George Mason University's Office of the Provost is looking for a part-time non-student wage Web Specialist to support website development. The specialist will primarily focus on helping to design, develop, and maintain a new website; collect, create, add, and edit content; and provide support to the communications team in the Academic Administration Pier.The Provost's Academic Administration Pier provides academic communications leadership to advance the strategic priorities, goals and initiatives of the Provost's Office and George Mason University. The team builds awareness of university-wide initiatives and supports the communication efforts of units within the Office of the Provost. The team's areas of focus include:Serving as a liaison with other internal offices to integrate strategies and align activities with university-wide academic initiatives and strategic priorities; andProviding vision and direction for key digital communications from offices within the Provost's division, working across communications channels such as email, websites, social media, video, and more.George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.Responsibilities:The Web Specialist's primary duties are as follows:Design, develop, update, and maintain websites within a templated CMS managed by the Office of the Provost;Write and edit new material for website deployment with awareness of target audience, university voice, attention to detail, and commitment to quality;Assist in managing website requests by gathering requirements, analyzing requirements, architecting information, and building;Proof-read, restructure and edit website content;Select, crop, and edit photos with appropriate aspect ratios and focal points as necessary for responsive, visually appealing website design;Provide technical expertise and ongoing support/assistance to communications team;Assist in ad hoc projects as needed; andOther duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:Demonstrated communications experience (typically 1-3 years), with preference given for experience supporting websites;Experience organizing and publishing with Content Management Systems (Drupal and Wordpress preferred);Ability to write and edit content;Excellent attention to detail; organized and process-oriented; andAbility to work independently as well as in a team environment.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience;Experience with Adobe Creative suite;Familiarity with HTML/CSS; andExperience in higher education.
