Summary

The Systems Administrator (SA) supports all software/hardware upgrades, patching, issue troubleshooting, migrations, storage, workstation/server/peripheral maintenance, and system monitoring. The SA will work with members of the IT team and leadership to ensure these activities are planned, scheduled, communicated, and executed in accordance with established policies and processes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide Tier 3 support for Windows laptops/desktops, Windows Servers, Linux Servers, iPhones, Printers, and VTC
  • Provide technical and functional video, audio, and web conferencing support to NMRC
  • Possess a working knowledge of backup concepts and practices including experience with backup policies, retention, and scheduling.
  • Understanding of backup and restore processes for Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL database engines.
  • Understanding of backup and restore processes for snapshots and backup appliance restores.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the continuation of operations (COOP) and data recovery plans and methods using snapshots and replication.
  • Develop, and maintain documentation and standard operating procedures (SOP) for the storage solutions, and day-to-day operations.
  • Provide architecture and performance recommendations to management, Database Administrators, Network Engineers, and others as requested.
  • Understand and troubleshoot SMB, NFS, and CIFS shares.
  • Document, and maintain access controls, and filesystem permissions for users' data stored on network attached storage.
  • Perform weekly maintenance consisting of vulnerability patching, server maintenance, and patching, required reboots of servers as needed, and other systems administration
  • Manage network/user/non-personal entity/e-mail accounts and perform password
  • Create/review support documentation for the Help Desk Team knowledge base and NMRC end users.
  • Utilize System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) to deploy applications and manage network computers by creating task sequences, preparing and deploying software packages, executing queries, running reports,
  • Assist in maintaining infrastructure for IT security in coordination with NMRC IT staff (including, but not limited to managing AD, file system permissions, anti-virus, firewalls, databases, and other appliances).
  • Support NMRC's asset management, tracking, inventory support, and life cycle management program for servers, desktops, laptops, printers, and standalone scientific
  • Triage and troubleshoot all manner of IT issues, including account/authentication issues, hardware and software issues, network and VPN issues, and issues relating to mobile
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • High school diploma/ GED required, Bachelor's degree in relevant field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience as a systems administrator
  • Experience in Windows & Linux (Redgat and SuSE) system administration required
  • Experience implementing STIG configurations
  • Security+ CE required
  • Operating System Certification - Windows 10 required but may be obtained prior to first day
  • Support VMware vSpere and ESXi environment required
  • Secret Clearance required
