The Systems Administrator II role is to recommend, design, install, administer, and optimize Northwest Capital Management (NWCM) servers and related components to achieve high performance of the various business applications supported by tuning the networks and servers as necessary. This includes ensuring the availability of client/server applications, configure and test any new implementations, and developing processes and procedures for ongoing management of the network and server environment. Where applicable, the Systems Administrator II will assist in overseeing the physical security, integrity, and safety of the network and server infrastructure.


Strategy & Planning
  • Design and implement long-term strategic goals and short-term tactical plans for managing and maintaining corporate systems and software
  • Ensure that proposed and existing systems architectures are aligned with organizational goals and objectives
  • Collaborate with executive management and department leaders to assess near- and long-term network and system goals
  • Coordinate and collaborate with network engineering, business application owners, and user administration functions to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of corporate networks and servers to meet business demands

Acquisition & Deployment
  • Design and deploy new applications and enhancements to existing applications, software, and operating systems
  • Conduct research on server hardware, software, and protocols in support of procurement and development efforts
  • Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions
  • Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services
  • Deploy workstations, servers, storage devices, printers, scanners, firewalls, encryption systems, and security related applications

Operational Management
  • Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems
  • Propose and create system design models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to system programmer and development team
  • Manage Enterprise Active Directory services and supporting server infrastructure in a multi-site environment
  • Manage services, including e-mail, print, DHCP, DNS, and their associated operating systems and software
  • Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights
  • Perform file system configurations and maintaining proper access controls
  • Perform upgrades of existing client server-based business applications as required
  • Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified or new systems or applications
  • Apply security updates and patches to servers, workstations and applications
  • Design and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company's disaster recovery and business continuity strategies
  • Serve as cornerstone for escalating server issues and provide a timely response to end-user escalations
  • Responsible for migrating/upgrading several windows servers to the latest version of Windows server OS, including Domain controllers, Print server, Certificate server, File server and multiple application servers
  • Maintain company's cloud-based voice, video, and fax solution
  • Mentor junior Desktop Support Technician


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in the Information Systems Field
  • Prior experience as a Systems Administrator in a Windows Active Directory environment
  • Experience with VMware or Windows virtualization technologies
  • Knowledge of cloud-based technologies
  • Microsoft 365 Email and SharePoint knowledge
  • A solid understanding of managing Active Directory Group Policies
  • Familiar with Drupal web content management system

  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (Server)
  • MCSE
  • Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Azure certifications
  • Linux knowledge, is a plus
