Pre-Award Research AdministratorOffice of the DeanThe George Mason University Office of the Dean, within the College of Engineering and Computing (CEC), invites applications for multiple Pre-Award Research Administrators. We are adding multiple Pre-Award Grant Administrator positions at the college level, as part of a university effort to enhance the research administration infrastructure across the campus. As part of this new initiative, applicants will have the opportunity to help develop and influence the pre-award process at the college level in collaboration with the research administration team leadership.The College of Engineering and Computing has experienced rapid growth in its research portfolio over the past five years with expenditures totaling over $70M in 2022 and has projects with over $400 million in current and anticipated awards. Our proposal activity is approaching 400 submissions annually. More information is available at https://hr.gmu.edu/benefits/.Responsibilities:The Pre-Award Research Administrator will manage pre-award activities for an assigned portfolio of grants and contracts within one or more CEC academic departments and/or chartered research centers using knowledge of sponsored research best practices, rules and regulations, technical expertise, and analytical skills. The Administrator will provide proactive support to faculty members and will work collaboratively across the college and the university to create a supportive and responsive environment.The primary responsibilities of the position is to work with CEC faculty in the pre-award submission of proposals and administration of their grants and contracts which includes:Assist faculty in development, preparation, and submission of grant and contract proposals which includes the development of budgets and budget justifications, and other administrative documents;Communicate with collaborating institutions to secure necessary sub-award documents for proposals;Ensure applications meet agency and University guidelines and published timetables and deadlines including management of Just-in-Time process; review proposals for consistency with sponsor guidelines;Ensure proposals are entered and routed in a timely manner; andOther duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and experience;Demonstrated ability to:analyze data and sponsor guidelines and formulate conclusions;learn changing technologies related to grants and contracts management;create high-quality written documents;proactively resolve issues in a timely manner; andwork well under pressure.Experience creating budgets and working with stakeholders on revisions as needed;Fundamental interpersonal skills in a professional environment;Proficient use of computers; requires solid working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); andExcellent customer service orientation and deadline oriented.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree;Experience in Sponsored Programs Administration or related field;Knowledge of federal rules and regulations relating to research grant and/or contract activity; andKnowledge of University or College policies, procedures, systems, and offices related to grant and contract submission and management.These positions are telework friendly with the ability to have a hybrid work schedule.
