Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Vice President, Operations and Strategy, this position Directs and/or executes processes, initiatives and projects that support CPB’s Office of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and the Executive Office and grant-making departments related to annual strategic planning, budgeting, analysis, and reporting functions. Ensures planned grants and activities comply with CPB financial policies and procedures and fall within corporate financial resources. Provides project management guidance to CPB project officers.

Compensation: The salary for this position will be no less than $102,200 annualized with a hiring range up to $125,600. Exact salary determined by experience, education related to the role, organizational compensation structure and internal equity. Annual salary increases and bonus payment based on performance.

Specific Duties:

• Acts as the project manager for Executive Office projects and initiatives. Ensures effective and efficient execution and completion, including overseeing work of external consultants.

• Facilitates the development of the CPB’s annual business plan: gathers and organizes information regarding proposed projects and activities; develops and implements the annual business planning process timelines; and identifies opportunities for process improvement.

• Executes budget-related activities for the Office of the COO and grant-making departments. Develops business plan budget and monitors expenditures against budget ensuring proper allocations. Produces forecasts and other reports for the Executive Office

• Works effectively within the Office of the COO to implement operational plans and corporate strategy. Monitors activities listed in the business plan. Develops organizational metrics (Key Performance Indicators) and other benchmarks to assess and measure the performance of projects, activities and/or initiatives against defined outcomes relative to corporate policies and procedures.

• Works to maintain the integrity of CPB’s stewardship of taxpayer dollars through oversight of the grantmaking process and project officer training: (1) identifying opportunities for improving CPB’s grantmaking processes, policies, and practices, and providing analysis and recommendations for executive management consideration; and (2) developing and communicating general guidance as well as specific changes to grantmaking processes and policies internally and to grantees.

• Works collaboratively with other CPB departments to ensure alignment across grant-making support functions and tools. Updates and maintains documentation related to CPB’s corporate policies and procedures for grant-making.

• Helps organize and conduct training of grant-making staff aligned with policies and processes. Serves as a resource for grant-making departments in developing department budgets and monitoring department expenditures.

• Reviews and analyzes projects in the approval process, including budgets, and advises the VP, Operations and Strategy, and the COO on feasibility, potential issues, and recommendations for improvements.

• Leads and/or participates in special projects, as needed, including, but not limited to, conducting research and performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

• Seven years’ experience working in a business environment with responsibilities in areas such as business and strategic planning, budget development and management, project management; grant management; data analysis; research; and process development and assessment.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

• Proficient in financial, budget, project management and business planning processes, as well as performance metric(s) development, progress tracking and reporting.

• Advanced analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to develop, interpret, manage, and organize data for clarity and efficient access and usage.

• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to work with a team, exercise independent judgment, and follow-through with minimal supervision.

• Excellent communication skills, with a superior ability to pay attention to detail, and a high level of discretion and experience in handling confidential corporate matters

• Proficient with technology and experience utilizing MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams) and other systems and online tools.

This is a hybrid work environment position, working from CPB’s office in Washington, D.C. and remote, as approved by the position’s Department Head.
