Job Summary

Aptive is seeking a Senior Technical Advisor to support the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Center for Program Integrity (CPI). The Technical Advisor shall possess experience managing large- scale projects related to health care benefits with first-hand experience with Medicare, Medicaid or other CMS programs. Specifically, the Technical Advisor should have a working knowledge of Medicare and/or Medicaid payment and CMS Program Integrity initiatives around fraud, waste and abuse.

This senior level, full-time position is located in Alexandria, VA. This position may also be remote.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Inform provider outreach and education programs around payment issues
  • Develop ongoing internal and external communications and reports for federal advisors
  • Provide subject matter expertise on Medicare and/or Medicaid payment and other CMS focus areas
  • Perform environmental scans to identify Program Integrity related issues
  • Coordinate with federal agency leadership and internal workgroups
  • Facilitate, development and execution of internal and external outreach and education programs
  • Facilitate long range strategic planning and short-term tactical planning
  • Assist with internal approvals by providing rapid response to requests for clarification and additional information
  • Develop ongoing internal and external communications and reports that will help CPI communicate its mission and accomplishments
  • Provide subject matter expertise on Medicare, Medicaid and other CMS programs' operations
  • Provide subject matter expertise on PI initiatives in CPI
  • Perform environmental scans to identify CPI program initiatives issues to determine outreach and education needs in order to develop outreach products and subjects for program integrity workgroups
  • Lead complex projects approved in the Education and Outreach Contract SOW
  • Coordinate with CMS leadership and internal workgroups for the purpose of communicating CPI initiatives
  • Act as coordinator with CPI initiatives team members to streamline product development


Minimum Qualifications

  • 10 years of work experience managing large-scale projects related to health care benefits
  • 7 years of experience with Medicare, Medicaid or other CMS programs
  • Knowledge of statutory requirements on PI initiatives in CPI
  • Bachelors Degree in management, business administration, communications, marketing or public relations
  • Background in Medicare policies, medical review, and health professional education
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

  • Masters Degree in a related field
  • Ability to get up to speed quickly on complex issues; desire to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
  • Capable self-starter with a drive to get all types of work done and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent ability to communicate across most mediums and settings.
