General Maintenance Technician IIThe George Mason University Facilities Department is ready to hire a General Maintenance Technician II at our Fairfax campus, situated on 677 acres with 103 buildings. It's one of the many generous benefits offered here at George Mason University.Here's what the job looks like: Be part of a team of skilled trades professionals who enjoy a friendly work environment;Working hours are Sunday - Thursday, from 6:00am - 2:30pm;Performing minor mechanical and electrical repairs;Installing, repairing, and maintaining light fixtures, ballast, and ceiling tiles;Installing, repairing, and maintaining all door closers, panic devices, switches on automatic, and handicap doors;Inspecting and ordering needed parts to repair or replace door pivots and hinges; andInstalling and repairing window treatments such as screens, blinds, and shades; performing preventive maintenance in an orderly, clean condition.Required Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent;Demonstrated progressively more responsible electrical and general maintenance experience (4 years preferred); andMust currently possess an appropriate, active, valid motor vehicle operator's license that meets all of GMU's requirements for operating state vehicles and equipment under Mason's Vehicle Use Policy 1411 https://universitypolicy.gmu.edu/policies/vehicle-use/. The Office of Risk Management reserves the right to review the driver's licenses and Motor Vehicle Reports (MVRs) of all candidates selected with employment contingent upon a favorable review.Preferred Qualifications:Completion of or ongoing participation and/or completion of courses in vocational or technology education;Five years of experience with commercial electrical work and multiple architectural building trades.Wait, there's more...Now, fast forward.
