Undergraduate Education manages the Undergraduate and Mason Core Curricula, Academic Advising, Fellowships, and Undergraduate Studies.The Mason Core Curriculum, required of all undergraduate students, is designed to provide students with a broad, shared learning experience that meets state and regional accreditation requirements, facilitates transfer, and builds on Mason's unique identity as Virginia's accessible public research university within a global network.About the Position:The Mason Core Curriculum Specialist will assist the Mason Core Director in supporting our faculty and students as we transition from a vision of an enhanced Mason Core to implementation. The Mason Core Curriculum Specialist will be responsible for tracking courses and curricula, managing strategic communications, scheduling meetings and workshops, analyzing course enrollment data, and other support for educational activities. The Mason Core Curriculum Specialist will have experience with and knowledge of undergraduate curriculum, particularly in the area of general education, and catalog excellent communication skills, and a commitment to general education.Responsibilities:Serves as academic support for Mason Core, working with faculty in the development and submission of Mason Core course proposals and maintaining accurate Mason Core records. Provides logistical support for the Mason Core Committee, including preparing for and attending meetings and events, and otherwise managing the activities of the Mason Core Committee. Supports strategic Mason Core communication efforts, including maintaining the Mason Core website, creating newsletters, and other materials as needed. Conducts data analysis and creates annual and ad-hoc reports for the Associate Provost of Undergraduate Education and the Mason Core Director through university systems. Works with the Registrar's Office to refine procedures pertaining to all Mason Core curricular issues. Assists with additional tasks as assigned in Undergraduate Education to support the Mason Core and excellent undergraduate student experiences.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in any discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; Master's degree preferred;Experience supporting curricular programs in a higher education environment;Demonstrated written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills;Ability to take initiative in analyzing and accomplishing tasks, and solving problems with attention to detail;Ability to be flexible, prioritize, and juggle multiple tasks; andDemonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).Preferred Qualifications:Experience with educational programming and/or student leadership development;Knowledge of general education, including appropriate pedagogy;Familiarity with Mason Core courses, attributes, and procedures;Understanding of databases and queries (using products like MicroStrategy), and familiarity with enterprise-wide educational software (e.g., Banner, CourseLeaf, Stellic, etc.); andDemonstrated experience with editing websites.
