University Supervisors for Internships in Special Education, 2022-2023 Academic YearThe George Mason University College of Education and Human Development invites applications from highly qualified adjunct faculty in Special Education to supervise teacher candidates completing internships as part of Special Education licensure programs beginning Spring 2023.George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.About the Position:University Supervisors have knowledge of evidence-based practices to be used in special education classrooms and provide performance feedback and coaching, professional expertise, and resources to teacher candidates. They also collaboratively assess teacher candidate performance in the classroom. University Supervisors will be hired each semester on an as-needed basis and on a per-candidate/credit hour basis. Our programs include Special Education for K-12 Students with Disabilities who Access the General Curriculum (i.e., mild/moderate disabilities), K-12 Students with Disabilities who Access the Adapted Curriculum (i.e., low incidence/severe disabilities), and PK-12 Students with Blindness/Visual Impairments.Required Qualifications:University Supervisors must have a minimum of a Master's degree in education or educational administration and have teacher certification in the subject area of supervision (K-12 Special Education-General Curriculum or related areas such as Learning Disabilities or Emotional Disabilities; K-12 Special Education-Adapted Curriculum or related areas such as Intellectual Disabilities or K-12 Severe Disabilities; or PK-12 Blindness/Visual Impairments). Additionally, a minimum of 10 years of instructional experience in the subject area of supervision is required; note that teaching experience may be combined with administrative experience to meet requirement. University Supervisors must have availability during the school day to conduct in-person observations and evaluations in classrooms across Northern Virginia school districts. University Supervisors should have familiarity with Blackboard, VIA, or similar educational technology.Applicants must submit a current curriculum vita or resume (including highest degree earned, teacher licensure areas held, and teaching experience) for consideration.
