Production Manager - Center for the ArtsThe George Mason University Center for the Arts (CFA) is seeking an experienced, skilled, and highly motivated individual to serve as Production Manager. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successful production management, an expertise to ensure high quality of work in every aspect of production, in addition to excellent budgetary, communication, organizational and leadership capabilities. Mason is Virginia's largest and most diverse public research university and the College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA), which operates the Center for the Arts, is one of the university's most visible programs serving hundreds of thousands of people through arts experiences each year.The Center for the Arts is often called the "front door" of George Mason University, as the Washington, D.C. metro area community visits Mason for performances by renowned international, national, and regional artists, student and faculty productions, and community events.Responsibilities:Supervise all aspects of production including audio, lighting, rigging, and stage management, as well as the coordination of all backstage labor, rentals, and services;Responsible for the advancing and coordinating of technical requirements and logistics for all Concert Hall events;Oversee production budget, including the administration of over-hire wage payroll, and purchasing and rental of event related equipment and supplies;Supervisor of classified production staff including Master Electrician, Audio Engineer, Master Carpenter, and Assistant to the Production Manager/Stage Manager; andWork in conjunction with CVPA Facility Manager to identify preventative maintenance programs for backstage operations and facility equipment for the Concert Hall.Required Qualifications:A degree in an arts-related field;Demonstrated professional experience in a production position with a major presenting and/or producing venue (generally 4+ years);Working knowledge of theatrical lighting, sound, and rigging; andFamiliarity with the art forms of Theater, Dance, and Music.
