Lab Manager (part-time)The George Mason University School of Systems Biology (SSB), within the College of Science (COS), invites applications for a part-time, Lab Manager position in the Wu Research Lab.George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.Responsibilities:This position must have demonstrated ability in working in a research lab in a team-oriented environment. The successful applicant must have good verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to make sound decisions. This person will assist in conducting research and ensuring that the lab is fully functional adhering to all Lab Safety protocols and procedures. This person will provide laboratory order request to the Procurement office for placement.Given the nature of the research, the position requires an individual who has demonstrated proficiency in laboratory skills, data analysis, and management.The duration of the appointment is contingent upon the continuation of funding.Required Qualifications:Successful completion of a Bachelor's degree in Biology or equivalent combination of education and experience;Demonstrated laboratory research experience in molecular biology, virology or immunology is preferred;Ability to work collaboratively with the faculty and students to complete an assigned task and assign them if necessary;Proficient computer skills and demonstrated experience with Microsoft office;Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal;Detail oriented, ability to multitask, and meet deadlines;Ability to complete projects in a timely manner with the minimum amount of supervision; andEffectively communicate well with people from diverse backgrounds.Preferred Qualifications:Successful completion of a Master's degree in a closely related field.
