Older Adults Technology Services from AARP (OATS) advocates for technology inclusion for the 50-plus, providing digital literacy training and programming to older adults. With nearly two decades of experience and insights on how older people interact with technology as well as its flagship programs like Senior Planet, OATS uses its resources to create world-class programs that form the basis for systems change.

The Program Lead works to build and enrich the daily life of Senior Planet participants in the assigned region through the implementation of fun and transformative experience for participants. The role will manage operational systems, schedule programs, classes, and special events, cultivate and manage relationships with partner organizations, and serve as an ambassador to other nonprofits that will co-produce outcomes with the seniors they serve in partnership with OATS and Senior Planet.


  • Promote Senior Planet to potential participants, implement and conduct enrollment and engagement strategies and practices, and personally interact with older adults throughout their participation in Senior Planet.
  • Prepare, deploy, and steward the organizational and physical infrastructure required to deliver and evaluate world-class Senior Planet programs and services in the assigned region, and work with Senior Planet trainers and volunteers to ensure consistently high-quality experiences for all participants.
  • Collaborate with the OATS headquarters team to ensure that all deliverables and milestones for associated commitments are clearly specified and met on time and within budget for all programs activities.
  • Work closely with the Regional Program Manager to plan, implement, and track progress against all activities in the assigned region.
  • Engage other institutions and assess their potential alignment with our mission and their practical capabilities to co-produce outcomes with OATS and Senior Planet participants.
  • Build among all members a lively sense of inclusion in the Senior Planet community at all levels and enthusiastically invite every individual participant to incorporate their involvement with Senior Planet as part of their daily life.


  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience managing people/teams and program management experience, preferably in a non-profit setting.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with a proven ability to manage cross-functional teams working on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong customer service orientation with an ability to work closely and collaboratively with partners from various sectors.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce, the Microsoft Suite, Salesforce, and other mainstream software applications required (Zoom, etc.).

* Remote role but candidates must live within a commutable distance to San Antonio, TX.

  • Independent judgement and discretion requiring the employee to compare and evaluate various courses of conduct and make a decision (or recommend a decision to be made) after various possibilities have been considered.
  • Home office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate home environment noise.
  • Travel throughout the South region required up to 25%.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.

Compensation and Benefits

AARP offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including a 401(k); 100% company-funded pension plan; health, dental, and vision plans; life insurance; paid time off to include company and individual holidays, vacation, sick, caregiving, and parental leave; performance-based and peer-based recognition; tuition reimbursement; among others.

For this position, we anticipate offering a salary between $65,000.00 to $75,000.00 per year. This role is also eligible to participate in an annual incentive plan with a percentage up to 12%. Bonus eligibility is dependent upon organizational and individual performance.
