Duties

  • Create, launch, develop training curriculums, and manage the Resiliency Health and Wellness program.
  • Develop Resiliency Health education policy, metrics and reporting methodology.
  • Provide oversight to aide leaders to reduce employee stressors while improving fitness and resilience.
  • Evaluate proposed Resiliency Health and Wellness programs and projects and schedule Resiliency Health training courses
  • Evaluate proposed Resiliency Health and Wellness programs and projects.
  • Work directly with all MTF staff and levels of MTF management to promote Resiliency Health and Wellness fitness fairs, Command fun runs, etc.
  • Brief Resiliency Staff leadership on program initiatives, long/intermediate/short range goals, program successes and program areas needing improvement.
  • Educate MTF staff on a variety of topics to include proper exercise principles, hypertension management, fat and cholesterol reduction, diet and nutrition, weight management, stress management techniques, and lower back pain prevention, etc.
  • Serve as liaison to the Suicide Prevention Program and Substance Abuse Program, including the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program
  • Design and present programs through evidence based information that focus on organizational stress and individual performance.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes working in a medical treatment facility applying a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods to assess and evaluate a Resiliency Health and Wellness program to determine its effectiveness, sufficiency, regulatory compliance and need for improvement or expansion; coordinating and facilitating Resiliency Health Training courses; and conducting complex studies and identifying issues and problems unique to the MTF Resiliency Health and Wellness program mission. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Certified mediator and Health Educator experience preferred but not required.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
