Responsibilities: Peraton is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (Automation) to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. The qualified applicant will become part of Department of State (DOS) Consular Affairs Enterprise Infrastructure Operations (CAEIO) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative is intended to provide IT Operations and Maintenance to modernize the legacy networks, applications, and databases supporting CA services globally. The Systems Engineer (Automation) will be a member of the CA/CST CAEIO Engineering Team, responsible for working closely with other CAEIO team members, application/system owners, and Government Leadership to ensure Consular Affairs mission success. This position is located in Arlington (Rosslyn), VA and while it does allow for Telework, there may be times when the employee works 1 day a week in the office. Day to Day Work Responsibilities: Provide technical leadership on Automation for modernized and legacy systems, infrastructure, and services leveraged by CA applications. Develop Automation Proof of Concepts, Pilots, and Production Implementations - This role leverages elevated/administrative rights to assist in the development and implementation of automation capabilities in pre-production and live environments. Support Lifecycle Engineering and Enterprise Automation for modernized C1 services to include identity management, networks, databases, storage, monitoring, on-premises infrastructure (to include containerized environments), and cloud capabilities (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).Support capability/technology roadmaps that enhance delivery of automation for C1 services and applications.Participate in enterprise architecture, cloud, and modernization working groups.Prioritize and manage work using agile methodology to enhance service delivery of SO capabilities.Work closely with the Engineering Manager, Government Customer, and other Systems Engineers/Architects to prioritize Automation efforts and ensure successful integration of modernized services.Leverage IBM Jazz Agile tool to track all engineering features, stories, and tasks. Support cross-team collaboration across 350 person organization where integrated capabilities are critical to mission success. Collaborate with CAEIO and CSM Teams to ensure Automation/Integration efforts meet requirements in the areas of security, capacity, and availability (DR and Redundancy). Work with other CA organizations and vendors to effectively design/integrate/test/deploy automation capabilities into production environment.Support monthly Engineering reports in the areas of automation, cloud, modernized services. Ensure all Engineering configuration changes follow approved change management processes and security configuration guidelines. Support Government Customer with ad hoc tasks and data calls. Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: Requires an active SECRET or TOP SECRET Government Security Clearance.Bachelor's degree with 10-12 years' experience or MS degree and 8-10 years' experience or high school diploma/equivalent and 14 years' experience. Experience engineering mission critical/essential capabilities for the Federal Government.Red Hat Ansible experience required.Experience performing COTS automation, integration, development, and administration.Experience working with system owners to identify automation requirements, design/develop solutions, and integrate in production and pre-production environments. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Experience working directly with Government customers.Ability to work in high tempo environment.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with enterprise systems including Identity Management/Authentication/SSO, Databases, Directories, Monitoring, HTTP, Application Servers, Networks (FW, Load Balancers) and others. Experience with Oracle Linux and RHEL Linux, networking components, physical servers, Oracle databases, virtual infrastructure, and containerized environments.Experience automating solutions with high availability, disaster recovery, and in accordance with RMF and DoD STIGs or DS Security Guides.Industry relevant certifications in Networking or Security.Experience with Department of State.
