Make yourself at home with us and start doing your life's best work.(sm) This role will provide support in managing, preparing and negotiating vendor and intercompany contracts, and, offering related federal and state regulatory, compliance and audit guidance for the UnitedHealthcare Shared Services Contracts Department ( Contracts Team ). You ll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the US as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities: Serve as a subject matter expert ( SME ) and point of contact for escalated legal matters in vendor contracting, including NDAs, data exchange agreements, vendor service agreements, network access agreements, strategic alliances; collaboration arrangements; granting instruments; service level agreements; and intercompany financial transactions Prepare and maintain government required regulatory appendices for subcontractors and coordinate with regulatory and compliance personnel to meet filing obligations Provide regulatory and compliance guidance for each transaction with a keen understanding of health care law, finance, insurance company and department of health regulations, HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, and exchange business Offer recommendations and provide ancillary support for audits and market exams, government customer filing and notice requirements; licensure or financial risk restrictions, et al. Required Qualifications: Juris Doctorate 4+ years of experience associated with license to practice law Ability to assess risk for company for each transaction and memorialize long-term best practices that provide strategic direction and issue identification for similar future transactions Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential job function of this role. Candidates must be able to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation Preferred Qualifications: Large company in-house counsel experience Knowledge of health care, insurance, privacy, corporate/contract, regulatory, insurance and managed care law with specific expertise in Medicare, Medicaid and exchange business as would normally be acquired through successful experience in a similar position Ability to communicate effectively and independently, both verbally and in writing, to colleagues and health plan executives Ability to drive results, be flexible, provide creative problem-solving and respond generally to customer needs with a sense of urgency Ability to navigate a matrixed organization and work with a number of stakeholders to address complex legal and regulatory issues Competencies: Process-oriented with keen attention to details balanced with equal ability to make immediate business recommendations and provide overall sound legal advice Effective strategic decision-making ability Excellent negotiation, project, prioritization and time management skills To protect the health and safety of our workforce, patients and communities we serve, UnitedHealth Group and its affiliate companies require all employees to disclose COVID-19 vaccination status prior to beginning employment. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $113,500 to $218,100.
