System Engineer (Senior) (TS/SCI) (Quantico, VA) (1 FTE) Functional Responsibility: Leads, plans, and executes highly complex engineering activities. Functions as the technical lead for all design-to-cost and life-cycle activities for large-scale projects. Design and engineer virtual infrastructure leveraging various Hypervisors, and VDI technologies to include HyperV, XenServer, ESXi, and VMWare. Design and engineer a global virtual desktop infrastructure. Designs, builds, maintains, and supports a variety of workstation and server images to include both current and legacy Windows and Linux operating systems. Designs, builds, maintains, and supports automated system patching and software deployment systems. Supports remote end-user systems, troubleshoot, and resolves issues at a Senior Tier 4 level of support. Works with outside organizations to support federated systems. Designs and implements new solutions and technologies based on emerging technologies with Government approval. Reviews information that may result in the purchase and installation of hardware, software, and/or telecommunications services. Experienced in the areas of system architecture and design. Responsible for assisting the Government representative on the technical direction, leadership, and training of less experienced Contractor staff. Coordinates with Government representatives and recommends changes to policies and/or processes that affect the organization. Assists Government representatives to provide technical recommendations in large teams of multi-disciplinary personnel to ensure congruence of the various hardware, software, and communications approach. Develops highly detailed system design diagrams and documentation to be utilized by Government and contract staff. Provides guidance to others to achieve goals in accordance with established policies. Works on complex problems where analysis of situation and/or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Acts as the technology lead for designing the system platforms and technical lead supporting all system infrastructures. Provides technical vision in the support and deployment of server technologies. Position Qualifications/Experience: Ten (10) years of experience engineering and supporting complex distributed server infrastructure systems using both Windows and Linux Operating Systems. Expert level experience building and supporting desktop systems using Windows 7, 8, and Windows 10 Operating Systems. Expert level experience designing workstation and server infrastructures for high latency, low bandwidth networks using satellite or cellular broadband technologies. Seven (7) years of experience engineering and supporting virtual infrastructures. Five (5) years of experience supporting virtual desktop infrastructures such as Citrix or VMWare. Current Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or equivalent. Must have previous supervisory or management design experience with a systems integration team within a large-scale telecommunications/communications system environment. Experience designing system architectures, overseeing the implementation and test/troubleshooting activities, reviewing, and approving changes/modifications to the design and implementation, documenting the installed system, and recommending and operating the system management tool.
