Global Science & Technology, Inc. (GST), a growing scientific and high technology company, seeks a Web Developer to support NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in the production and display of scientifically validated products from Earth observing satellites. This position is located at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. Work assignments will be done remotely until the NASA facility reopens, at which point a hybrid model of onsite and telework each week will likely be put in place.Position Summary:Provide full-stack web development to support GSFC's Terrestrial Information Systems Laboratory (GSFC Code 619) production and display of scientifically validated products from Earth observing satellites.Primary Duties:Provide full-stack web development to support GSFC's Terrestrial Information Systems Laboratory (GSFC Code 619) production and display of scientifically validated products from Earth observing satellites. Work with the Code 619's communications team to update and maintain the systems for web-based promotion of scientific content and descriptions. Work with science and development teams to develop and troubleshoot website interfaces. For example, see https://ladsweb.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov. Support migration to, and sustainment of, cloud-based platforms.Required Education/Experience/Skills:Bachelor's degree and minimum 3 years of experience in the field of website development; or equivalent combination of education and experience.4+ years of experience with a combination of the following: Perl or PHP 7, PostgreSQL, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, CSS, HTML. Must be proficient with: 1) REST API standards, 2) Accessibility standards and 508 compliance, 3) NGINX and Apache configuration knowledge Strong understanding of language-specific secure programming techniques. Experience writing, testing, integrating, troubleshooting, debugging, maintaining, documenting existing and newly developed software Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others, especially with other team members to meet deadlines. Strong desire to learn and work in a science and technology environment.Desired Qualifications:GitLab CI/CD or DevOps experiencePerl programming experienceModel View Controller pattern knowledge; Mojolicious framework experience or awarenessKnowledge of JavaScript build tools like NPM, Gulp, Webpack, or ParcelSVG knowledge for use in comms diagramsTest-driven development experienceAmazon AWS or S3 experienceFamiliarity with Atlasian Confluence and Jira toolsFamiliarity with Agile methodologies for software developmentReact 15 or higher knowledgeSubversion experienceKnowledge of Wget for data downloadsSOAP API experience.U.S. citizenship or Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) is required.
