Job Summary
The Washington Post is seeking a Product Manager to join its Acquisition and Payments product team. This team of product managers, product designers, and engineers plays a critical role in subscriptions growth by making it as easy as possible for subscribers to purchase and renew their subscription. As the Product Manager, Payments, you will own the product roadmap for end-to-end payment processing including checkout, recurring billing optimization, fraud reduction, legal compliance and financial reporting. You will partner with internal and external teams to deliver a best-in-class payment experience, supporting multiple currencies and payment services, to drive global subscriptions growth. This role reports to the Product Management Lead, Acquisition & Payments.

Job Summary

As the Product Manager, Payments, you will own the product roadmap for end-to-end payment processing including checkout, recurring billing optimization, fraud reduction, legal compliance and financial reporting. You will partner with internal and external teams to deliver a best-in-class payment experience, supporting multiple currencies and payment services, to drive global subscriptions growth. This role reports to the Product Management Lead, Acquisition & Payments.

Responsibilities
- Own the product roadmap for payments and work with product leadership to align features and functionality to team and company objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to gather requirements, design solutions, prioritize the backlog, and plan sprints that result in meaningful improvements for your users.
- Set product KPIs and partner with engineering and analytics to ensure product performance is properly monitored and that dashes and alerts are accurate and actionable.
- Use analytics and research to generate actionable insights and identify opportunities to maximize successful payment transactions and evolve your product area to meet user needs.
- Lead through influence by building trust and alignment with clear, proactive communication about your plans, progress, successes, and setbacks.
Qualifications
- 2+ years as a product owner or product manager, preferably with experience in digital subscriptions platforms and recurring payments.
- A proven track record of critical thinking and problem solving in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.
- A collaborative spirit and ability to build strong partnerships across disciplines that result in better product outcomes.
- Exceptional communication, writing, and presentation skills.
- Comfortable using quantitative and qualitative data to identify user needs and inform solutions.
- Experience shaping product methodology, technical solutioning, and the software development process, particularly as it relates to payment services.
- Experience using industry standard software such as Microsoft Excel, Google Docs, Jira, and Confluence.
