Overview

AARP Services, Inc., founded in 1999, is a wholly-owned taxable subsidiary of AARP. AARP Services manages the provider relationships for and performs quality control oversight of the wide range of products and services that carry the AARP name and are made available by independent providers as benefits to AARP's millions of members. The provider offers currently span health products, financial products, travel and leisure products, and life event services. Specific products include Medicare supplemental insurance; credit cards, auto and home, mobile home and motorcycle insurance, life insurance and annuities; member discounts on rental cars, cruises, vacation packages and lodging; special offers on technology and gifts; pharmacy services and legal services. AARP Services also engages in new product development activities for AARP and provides certain consulting services to outside companies.

As the Health Products Operations Manager in AARP Services, Inc. for our customer solutions team, you will implement and manage health products/services operations. This work will focus on minimizing cost while maximizing value and quality control. You will interface with customers and translate their needs into product enhancement requirements and document user cases and specifications. In addition, you will collaborate with management to identify opportunities to streamline processes and to develop new procedures that support the business unit/department.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the development, building, and optimization of products to drive enduring positive changes in people's financial lives
  • Develops and maintains project plans and ensures that the project is progressing on time, on budget, and within scope
  • Collaborates on developing and implementing a research plan and analyzing the data to identify new product features and enhancements
  • Helps align key stakeholders on the vision for the products and informs key stakeholders on progress and captures input
  • Works with internal groups to identify and execute new opportunities to increase the reach and impact of products

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Healthcare, or Marketing preferred and a minimum of 3+ years experience in product development/management, operations, government programs, or a non-profit organization or an equivalent combination of training and experience related to the duties of the position.
  • Excellent written, verbal, visual/presentation and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to communicate and work effectively with multiple levels of disciplines of Program Providers.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in a team-based department and effectively participate in cross-functional teams to meet business objectives and influence co-workers and business partners in fostering strong working relationships.
  • Ability to make good decisions through a combination of analysis, knowledge, experience and the ability to exercise good judgment in sensitive situations.
  • Proactive manager that fully understands the principles of continuous improvement; constantly evaluates and identifies areas for improvement and initiates positive change.
  • Experience with Six Sigma and project management methodologies with demonstrated plan to work toward certification in one or both areas preferred.
  • Effective organizational skills and the ability to identify needed steps/actions to be taken to professionally and effectively manage operations.
  • In-office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise.
  • Travel up to 25% required.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
